Stayed with my partner, and the entire area of Shimoda is so charming. If you want to experience a taste of the natural flora and fauna of Japan, this place is it. The staff were accommodating, helpful and kind, and the restaurant was excellent for a taste of the local cuisine. Great gems to be found nearby. My only recommendation is to rent a car for this area, as there’s so much to see but not all in walkable distances.

I wish the restaurant has better choices for a dinner.

Onsen is small but has an amazing sea view. The restaurant is extremely expensive, they have a vegan set menu but also extremely expensive. Massively more expensive than anything else in the area. Some lovely restaurants nearby so best just to skip the hotel restaurant completely.

We absolutely loved our stay! Maros and Takahashi were the highlights, they were so warm and welcoming and made our stay the best!

Great stay with 2 daults and 2 kids. Only thing is that we chose the Japanese Hutons Room and it was not very comfortable for Occidental Adults...Kids slept fine. Restaurant is great!

The breakfast buffet was so good and the view from the garden can't be beat. The hotel is a bit outdated but there were good upgrades like fast wifi, newer toilets, and smart tvs.

Excellent stay, and NO complaints. The staffers are great, and the fine dining restaurant is top notch. I hope to someday come again.

The breakfast buffet was amazing and very friendly staff. We were disappointed with how dry the room was and limited walking area. The hotel is on top of a huge hill impossible to walk anywhere

The property is in a beautiful location with lovely views & easy access to beach walks & waterside promenade- ocean view rooms are special - there is nothing of attraction in the town of Shimoda - dilapidated but the surrounding areas within 5-10km distance are beautiful - breakfast is great, the hotel dinners are overpriced & average quality

The staff were very attentive and kind. The lady at the front desk let me check in half an hour early, which I really appreciated. The hotel itself is in good condition and has a beautiful garden facing the ocean. My room was spacious and comfortable; however, the one thing that disappointed me was the bathroom. It’s in need of renovation, with old tiles and a bathtub that had some stains.
