Do no stay at this hotel, it is terrible. It was totally run down. The curtains were ripped and hadn't been washed in years. The bathroom was filthy with brown stains in toilet and black grime on shower seals. The sink had hard toothpaste left on it obviously from the guests before us. The room itself was thick with dust and the carpet was covered in stains and hadn't been hoovered in weeks.Even the walls had dirty marks all over them We had booked 2 rooms and both were as bad as each other. We complained and we're moved however the second set of rooms were not that much better. At the time of staying we where in a amber warning heatwave, There was no bottled water in the rooms and when we asked for some we were told where the nearest supermarket was. We also asked for a fan to be put into each room however one stopped working during the night. The mattresses were full of lumps and the beds creaked that badly we thought they would collapse at any point. We ended up just sleeping on top of the beds rather than getting in them. We checked out a.s.a p.

I would like to have made some positive comment here, but there have just ben too many issues. The worst is that the bed was HORRENDOUS. When I first lay down I just sank, it was as if I had laid on a bed of jelly, and just sunk into it. it was a really bad night sleep.

Our room was not dirty but the toilet pan was stained as was the shower curtain. There was little loo roll; no soap, no tooth mugs, little tea & milk and no coffee, mug, tea-cup with no saucer, not uncomfortable bed but you could feel the springs. No-one was at the reception from about 9-10a.m. when we wanted to check out. The hotel looked good from the outside and was conveniently located. Parking was easy once you found the car park.

Central position and with parking was good Extent of air conditioning was just opening windows when hot . Basic breakfast was ok Overall was looked after by staff, and put right toilet flush mechanism quickly. Quirky and dated decor. Was happy there. Steve, July 2026

This hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Tonbridge. It has FREE parking. A Friday night for £66. Where else can you get this price in the heart of Tonbridge with free parking. If you want a more luxurious hotel go and pay three times more. Yes it was dated, the room lacked good house keeping as there was dust on the bedside table. The building seriously needs investment BUT with this comes over £100 a night rooms. I’ve stayed in better and I’ve stayed in worse. I’d give it 5/10 overall.

As other reviews have said the property is old and creaky and furnishings and carpets could do with being updated. The hotel is right next to the castle, pubs, restaurants and-supermarkets and is a great location. It’s a shame really as it could be really nice if a bit of TLC was added to the rooms and especially the entrance which really needs attention. Another Plus is the staff are really nice.

We stayed at the Rose & Crown in Tonbridge for one night while attending a party. Unfortunately, the room we were given (Room 47) was very disappointing. The room was shabby, with dirt on the floors and curtains that didn't properly cover the window. The tea and coffee facilities included two mismatched mugs, and both were dirty. The beds were also mismatched in size and had simply been pushed together, making for an uncomfortable night's sleep. The carpet felt warm and had a musty, unpleasant smell throughout the room. To make matters worse, smokers were gathered outside the room, and cigarette smoke drifted into the room, making the stay even less enjoyable. Overall, the room was not clean or well maintained, and the experience fell well below what we expected. I would not choose to stay here again unless significant improvements are made. We raised our concerns with Expedia, who contacted the hotels on numerous occasions with no response

Look the place is fine, old, needs done up but fine for one night, very much a workers stop over, plenty white van's. You wouldn't be taking your wife for a weekend away.

This place needs to be condemned. It’s horrible. There was blood splattered up the walls in the bathroom, everything was just grim. Happy to have parking but that’s literally all the place had going for it. I’d probably have been more comfortable sleeping in my car.

This is the worst-kept hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was dirty and mouldy, the net curtain had been cut in half, and there were no spoons provided for the tea and coffee facilities. The corridor smelled awful, and the window from the room next door was lying in the overgrown wasteland outside. There was a huge pile of rubbish in the car park, the beds were uncomfortable, and some of the lights in the room did not work. Parts of the room were also missing decoration and fittings. We pulled the bed out and found that it had clearly not been hoovered for a very long time. On a positive note, the rubbish-filled car park was convenient, the high street nearby is pleasant, and I would add that the receptionist was friendly and helpful

Each and every staff member were amazing!! Very helpful did what they could to solve every situation and went the extra mile given issues with rooms. Hotel needs some repairs and refurbishment in quite some areas like electrical, decor and cleanliness throughout. Great location and opposite the castle. Overall good stay for 1 or 2 nights. Only breakfast option. Bar had no mixers, no coke or lemonade. Well done to the reception staff for their excellent service!
