The room we had was dated but clean apart from some mould around the windows. There was a bit of a funny smell but it wasn’t overbearing. The pool was good and open late which was ideal. The steam room wasn’t working when we stayed but the sauna was nice and clean! The hotel was otherwise modern and and there was a nice bar/resturant. We didn’t eat in the hotel so can’t comment. The hotel location was perfect if you want to go into York (the shambles etc) it was a five min drive and the parking was easy to find albeit pricey! There was bus stops near the hotel if you’re good with public transport or you could easily get an uber if needed! Overall good stay.

This hotel is amazing. We’ve been coming here as a family of 4 for over 7 years and every time it’s great. We’ve especially come for the pool and breakfast which are both excellent. I’d like to highlight the exemplary breakfast staff who do their upmost to make sure it’s special. Special hot chocolate? No problem. Special hot muffins? No problem. We use the family sized rooms and they’re great for a family of 4 with 2 big kids.

Great staff Sandra got us an upgrade to a garden view room. We had a small issue with curtains but Jess at reception also was amazing and sorted the issue.

Pool was great and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was also lovely. However, avoid room 217 at all costs! The noise from the external generator was all we could hear all night and got no sleep.

Jacuzzi was out of service but there was no mention of this by the staff or any signage, shower gel in bathroom was empty, bin in room hadn't been emptied, pillows were very uncomfortable but other than that our overall stay was ok, especially for the price we paid for the room.

No. The pool was FULL of screaming children! The jacuzzi was broken!! Breakfast was pick over and put away early. Housekeeping was screaming and yelling, slamming doors, and vacuuming around 715am. Absolutely horrible service. When we brought it up, we were gaslit!!!

We stayed in a lovely, spacious room, overlooking York racecourse, with a balcony. There was both a bath and a separate shower, the bed was huge and very comfortable. It’s about a 30/35 minute walk into the centre of York along the main road or you can walk across the race course down a couple of street to join the river, that took about 45 mins but well worth it. The pool facilities were lovely, having a wet and dry steam room too. Breakfast was great too, a good choice fruits/cereals/juices and help yourself cooked breakfast items. Me and my partner found all the staff helpful and professional. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

The room was clean, overlooked a lovely garden. The pool and spa were excellent. The food was good. The staff were well trained and knowledgeable especially the restaurant staff who knew all about different dietary requirements and were able to give clear information.

Excellent stay from start to finish. Easy and smooth check in with good communication beforehand regarding my specific needs due to disability. Room was super, well laid out and spacious. Bathroom was modern and designed for disabled use. We ate in the on site restaurant 2 nights out of 3 during our stay. Food was really exceptional given it’s a chain hotel. The seabass I had the first evening was really flavourful and the couscous and roasted veg with it was the perfect combination to go with it. I had the crab ravioli the second evening and that was just amazing. Breakfast was buffet style with a wide range of pastries, bread, cereals, fresh fruits and juice in addition to everything you could possibly want in the hot selections. I used the spa facilities both days enjoying a pedicure and a body massage. The massage left me floating and I would highly recommend them. My only gripe would be the treatment rooms are very small and really doesn’t give you much room for manoeuvre! Don’t let that detract you from the treatments on offer though and the therapists are extremely friendly and good at what they do. All in all I have no hesitation in recommending a stay here and we will certainly return, hopefully sooner rather than later. Thank you again for a wonderful stay.

Lovely hotel and the staff were lovely. Our Room was nice, but sadly the bathroom was terrible. If you went for a shower the bath would fill with water because the plug was stuck closed and the door handle to the bathroom was falling off.
