I booked this hotel while on a business trip as I knew I'd be arriving at Leeds Bradford Airport late and wanted somewhere nearby rather than driving back to Manchester tired.
On Hotels.com the hotel had a "Very Good" rating and, at £136 for one night, I expected a comfortable stay. The receptionist was friendly, but unfortunately that was the only positive.
The room was in poor condition. The carpets were heavily stained, the fridge made a constant loud noise, the bathroom door was badly scratched, and the bathroom blind barely worked despite the bath and toilet being visible from outside. The bed appeared to have only a mattress topper rather than a fitted sheet, and there was a spider's web with three spiders near the foot of the bed.
After a seven-hour journey I was left choosing between trying to sleep in the room or driving home. I chose to leave and drive back to Manchester.
The following day I checked the hotel's Google reviews, something I wish I'd done beforehand, and found many recent reviews describing the same issues, confirming my experience wasn't an isolated one.
I cannot understand how this property justifies charging £136 per night. I would not recommend this hotel, and I don't believe the Hotels.com rating accurately reflects the standard of accommodation.
