while not in central Barcelona, this hotel is in a stunning hillside location with pool bar and terrace having lovely sea views and views towards Barcelona. great place for conferences. buffet breakfast and dinner feature a good range of plentiful food. dinner always features at least one fish option which I liked. rooms are comfortable though some items need to be borrowed from reception e.g. iron and kettle.

We had such a great time attending a conference at the Gran Hotel! The only point of improvement would be the air conditioning system. It varies room to room, with some new and others that you couldn’t control the temperature. However, this doesn’t make the experience any different. The staff was amazing. Super helpful and well trained. The rooms was cleaned and organized every day. The breakfast and all meals were delicious! And served by polite and friendly staff. All the hotel had beautiful decor. To finish, the view of the sea is incredible at any time of the day.

Spent a week here again for a conference. Last time I was here was four years ago and got a terribly noisy room with cigarette smell right outside the reception area, in the old wing. This time I asked for a better room and stayed at the new wing in the second floor with great sunrise view facing Barcelona city. Room was clean and conference venue was v good. Breakfast is the same as any other European four star hotels, the bar serves nice cocktails and snacks next to a beautiful pool and a medieval ruin / watchtower where you can catch the perfect sunrise on a clear day. Some tips for travellers: taxi or uber is 35-40euros from airport; the nearest convenience store is 900m on foot, there is no bottled water on site and the vending machines sells small bottled water for 1.75euro(!); no hot water on site so bring a travel kettle, no coffee machine inside room, the shower gets suddenly v hot during peak hour and it’s tiny even for a medium size adult; bring a converter; my room gets echos from the reception so still noisy, there is a safe inside room. To get to the nearest restaurant on foot is 25-30min at leisurely pace and the trip back consists of a 5-10min uphill climb so not for those with mobility issues. Call a taxi - costs 8euro one way. For fitter people, runs at the beach is quite nice in the morning in May when it’s cool. But during late afternoon the wind stirs up the sand gusts. As you walk down from hotel towards the highway, turn right towards a pedestrian bridge and if you keep walking for a few minutes more you will find two convenience stores. The train station to downtown Barcelona is just across the road via the bridge. Cocktails at the bar costs between 13-15euros each. Lunch and dinner service during the conference was buffet and Mediterranean style. The neighborhood felt safe when walking alone even after dark.

The hotel makes a very nice first impression, the building is beautiful, a bit older but well maintained. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We had a room with a view of the pool and an old fortress, which was nice. The main issue, though, was the noise at night. The bar downstairs was loud almost every evening – people shouting and laughing, and it usually only started after 10 PM. We had to call reception multiple times. They were always polite and said they’d handle it, but it often stayed noisy until around 1 AM. The biggest downside was the breakfast. I booked through Booking and missed that it wasn’t included. At check-in, they told us where and when breakfast was, but didn’t mention that it costs extra. The breakfast itself was okay, but definitely not worth €18 per person.

We stayed for just one night while in transit, and I’m so glad I chose this place. The view from the balcony was beautiful — from the hills to the sea, watching the beach in the morning was simply perfect. We enjoyed a quick light snack, and the historic tower next to the pool made the whole place feel special and charming. The room was spotless and definitely worth the stay. I loved the decorations — from the old-style keys and locks to the vintage taps — everything made me feel like I’d stepped back in time. It’s just a short walk down to the beach, which was fantastic. The walk back up to the hotel was a bit tiring since it’s uphill, but honestly, that made it even more fun. Sometimes the most beautiful places require a little effort — and this one was absolutely worth it! If I had to choose again, there is no doubt - I would definitely stay at this same hotel.
