A bit outdated but okay

Very clean, services improved from first phone call to in person. great massages, but i spent most of my stay without Jacuzzi and steam room. Just pool and sauna until 2 days before i left. Food is what lets this place down, its diabolical/ The dinner is meat and 2 veg for seniors. l'll never get back my £47 back and i tried dinner and bar food. The grounds are just what i needed, my dog was allowed everywhere , there's so many places to chill out . would recommended and will be rebooking for july, but will nit be eating .

Lovely hotel and grounds , short walk to some wounderful pubs and shops .

Bar is well under staffed. Very angry that there were workers the next morning (not advised) in the rooms opposite me who found it perfectly acceptable to have their phone calls with foul language in the corridors before 8am. No apology from staff as I checked out and let them know

I didn’t like the fact that I have to pay £5 to is the pool and gym facilities and an extra £3 for towel. That is ridiculous when it’s clearly advertised as part of the hotel facilities. If that isn’t part of the hotel why say you have pool and all that. It’s absurd charging extras to use those facilities when you’re clearly spending the night or 2 at the hotel.

Stopped here for the night on our road trip to Northumberland and it was great. Comfortable room in a great location

First room was filthy, we were then told to pack our bags and go to reception to hand in the key before we could be issued the key to our replacement room. Was far from impressed when after carrying our bags down 2 flights of stairs only to carry them straight back up the 2 flights of stairs again because we were given the room right next door to the one we had just left. Also had to repeatedly ask over a 2 hour period for the dressing gowns that were clearly advertised as being in our executive room but were nowhere to be seen. I also think 2 pillows 2ft apart on a superking bed a little bit inadequate.

Staff were so helpful. Jackson ( I think), was excellent to highlight one of many. Nothing was too much trouble.he followed up on any query. Made sure we were comfortable in the heat, had plenty refreshments liaised with the chef the theme of excellent service is a common theme for the hotel. The hotel is historical. Well looked after beautiful grounds and proximity to local food options. I didn’t use the restaurant as I explored the neighbourhood with friends. The spa could be better explained especially lockers and changing but it was very well kept and again staff were helpful. Pool was lovely next time I will try the gym too. Over and that overall stay was very good. The receptionist demanded we went down and proved money in the morning to stay the extra hour though which was a bit of a annoying thing and we had workmen come in the room with my naked Mrs. Well just said I could see the toilet and she wasn’t very happy left a pair of earrings there and never got a phone call about them so I’ll take it. The foreign cleaner kept them as well. They wear Chanel so you can don’t blame them lol they only cost seven times the rate of the room

Very old, poorly maintained building. Reception area is lovely but rooms are awful. Ours smelt of egg/sulphur/drains. Very worn bathroom and tiny queen size bed despite ordering a double. Staff unfriendly and acerbic. There was the constant sound of an alarm bleeping in the corridor all night from (I assume) where the battery on an emergency light or smoke alarm was running low. DO NOT STAY HERE!

All staff are very Friendly, especially Dona at breakfast, who is very attentive.

Absolutely beautiful place

Room was reasonably priced for what I needed. I was deeply disappointed by the electric shower which wasn’t working. I had to walk to a different part of the hotel to use a shower in an empty bedroom. This was a poor experience especially when trying to get ready for an early start to the working day. There was also a sewage smell evident in the shower and outside room ( room located in lower ground floor) probably as a result of shower being out of use.

Amazing building, lot's of nature to walk in. Rooms were good for the price you pay. Gym and swimming pool on sight were good. Overall had a great stay.

I booked a double room with King size bed! Was given stand double room with a double bed
