The hotel needs updating. Decor and furniture are outdated. There was no hot water in the shower. No USB ports but adapter was provided after requesting one. Curtains are sheer so the sunlight streams through which made sleeping challenging.

I'm traveling to Italian 6 cities in three weeks and the Melià has been an absolute highlight. The staff is friendly, helpful and attentive. The room was perfect and we had a lovely balcony overlooking Genoa. It was conveniently located, so we could walk to the Piazza (and opera house!), Antico Port, shopping areas and we were 2 minutes from the church where Christopher Columbus was baptized. HIGHLY RECOMMEND that property for your stay in Genoa, one of Italy's underrated gems.

We stayed at the Melia several times on business. This time was vacation and the we had contacted the hotel for restaurant recommendation before our stay. Received a very prompt and friendly reply. We went to one of the recommended restaurants and it was excellent. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly and also gave us a great restaurant recommendation.

This was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at my in entire life. I travel more than anyone I know. Too to bottom 10/10

Imposing modern hotel handily placed for exploring Genoa. Very welcoming staff who take care of your needs. Excellent breakfast provided to get you started. On the expensive side, but highly recommended.

Good staff terrible hotel

Excellent hotel! Perfect location, right in the heart of Genoa, staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. Room was lovely and clean with all amenities you would need. We also used the pool and that was absolutely lovely after a long hike through Genoa mountains. Would definitely stay again, thank you to all the reception and housekeeping staff members!

Everything was great except there is a charge of 20Euros to use the indoor pool. The description of the hotel says it has an indoor pool but I could not find any mention of a charge to use it when I booked the hotel on Hotels.com. I only learned about it when we checked in, they said it was part of the spa. In my opinion, that should be clearly stated in the description. I use a pool to exercise and had I known when I booked, I could have looked for another option.
