Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean. There was water in the mini fridge and a Nespresso machine for coffee. I would highly recommend the Housekeeping Team, they do an amazing job. We have been staying at Formby Hall for 20 years or so and the one thing that has let it down has been the food quality and breakfast service, so this stay we were very pleased to see the improvements made to the whole breakfast experience. There was fresh fruit, excellent pastries, good quality bread for toasting. I didn't try the cooked option but we could see other guests enjoying it. The waiting staff were very polite and tried to provide quick service. This morning the hotel was full and breakfast crowded which meant we had to wait a long time for our pots of tea. However, this is a vast improvement on previous stays when you had to get your own tea /coffee from a very cheap machine. All the staff were well dressed and all had a smile. We are looking forward to our next stay.

The property is in need of refurbishing. However i enjoyed my stay there. the pool was good and so was the food although quite limited in choices.

Rooms were big and spacious clean just needed a bit of tlc we stayed in room 103 and the ceiling tile was in need of replacing as it had water damage and was exposed noticeably,the patio curtains was smeard with makeup? And the shower leaked water due to poor design fault. We went to the spa area and again this too could do with a refurb in the ceiling area as it was hanging down in certain places. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Good hotel. Unfortunately we were awoken both nights multiple times by other guests shouting/singing/screeching in hallway & banging on others doors, deliberately picked this hotel due to quiet location. Good hotel overall.

Well kept hotel. Lovely grounds and bar area. Fish and Chios was tasty. Room was a nice size and in good condition. Would stay again.

A once amazing hotel is now tired and dated. (Regulars tell us it's because it changed hands). We loved the size of the Junior Suite, and the outside tables overlooking the Greens, but the lounge furniture was old and dirty. The bed was clean (No. 1 priority) but I literally sank into the gap in the middle. Bathroom was clean and had a walk-in shower. Loved the complimentary items in the fridge, but a small snack offering would be nice (just a couple of bags of crisps/nuts for example). We used the pool/sauna/whirlpool - and enjoyed it - but again, it's all a bit tired. Staff on reception and in Spa were all lovely. Breakfast was disappointing, no fried eggs, strange mushrooms, coffee machine not working, no English Breakfast tea, was really messy around the tea and coffee area. Just needed a wipe but everyone seemed oblivious. Would I go back? Probably not.

We stayed in the Attic room and was woken up to seagulls squawkin and walking about on the roof, Unfortunately this was very loud and started about 5.10am as soon as daylight started and happened about every 20mins til we went to breakfast at 9am so couldn't get back to sleep.

Cleanliness was very poor. Dirty cups, dirty kettle with water in, water in irons, dirty toilet and vanity chair. There was something left under bed by a previous guest. Bed linen was torn and marked. The first room I was given was terrible and had lots of dead flies on the windowsill. The furniture looked like it needed to go in a skip. I was swapped to a different room but still lots of cleanliness issues. I asked if I cancelled can I get a refund but they said I would have to arrange with 3rd party provider (you) I was worried I would lose money so I very reluctantly stayed in a dirty room. Hairdryer didn’t work, some of the plug sockets didn’t work. Wardrobe door needed maintenance.

Really nice stay. Used the spa facilities for 2 hours. Very relaxing and clean. Room was lovely - we upgraded to the loft rooms. Very spacious and had a separate bath and shower. Even a television in bathroom so could watch whilst having a bath. Bed was very comfy. Also went down to have dinner at the restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious. Had breakfast buffet in the morning which was nice as well. Overall a very relaxing stay and looking forward to staying again.

Lovely, relaxing stay! Lovely, large room, great to have a fridge & view of the golf course! Lounge & bar area lovely, really comfy seats and everywhere nice and clean! Enjoyed the afternoon tea & bar food in the evening - highly recommend the dirty bacon fries, they were divine! Pool facilities great, well maintained! Steam room was best I've ever tried! Pool was too cold for us though! Movable shower head would be better but nice to have a bath & a separate shower though! Rooms have lots of nice touches like huge mirrors, a proper wardrobe & lots of storage space! Very impressed! Breakfast was perfectly adequate too, only complaint was lack of proper orange juice! It was watery and more like orange squash!

The room was very clean and spacious (304) and as I am disabled was within walking distance of the restaurants and bar. The bathroom was lovely, it even had a tv built in! The people working there made our experience absolutely wonderful, especially, tall Phil, small Phiĺ, Chloe and Rachel who gave us lots to smile about with the warmest of welcomes, the staff were so friendly and accommodating, by far the best place we have ever stayed at in terms of staff. I understand the hotel has recently being taken over and look forward to visiting again to see the exciting improvements the new owners make. The only thing I hope they dont change too much are the people working there, from our experience, they are a credit to the company. We have stayed at lots of 4 and 5 star golf and spa hotels, yes I am a golf widow! This is definitely one to return to. The only suggestion would be to improve the changing area for the pool, being disabled, there was only one tiny general changing room which was constantly in use, there could be a designated disabled changing room for those of us who have extra support needs and have to take some time to change. Other than that, a great experience. Thank you x
