Staff very polite and helpful, however the lifts in the resorts were really bad, very slow and not enough lifts for the number of rooms, sometimes i had to wait well over 5 mins to get into the lift, my room was on the 8th floor do could not really use the stairs

Room was a good size and was nice and clean (as was the rest of the hotel). The facilities were OK, but the whole hotel feels very tired and dated and not really what I’d expect from a 5 star. The food was fairly standard, no better than the food I’ve had in other 3 and 4 star hotels. Pool looks great in the photos but was extremely busy on our stay. Communication in advance of our visit wasn’t great - I emailed twice to ask a so eventually had to call instead. Parking charges for guests are steep. Not a terrible stay, but not somewhere I’d rush to go back to

I'd always wanted to stay as I'd passed the hotel many times. First, parking -you have to pay. Underground is £25, overground £13.50. Not good. Receptionist helpfully told me to move car from underground to save money. Went to get light lunch on cafe/bar in foyer. Lots of staff milling about but took some time to be served and then wrong sandwich arrived. Also would have expected a decent sized tea pot instead of one that help one and a bit cups. Room was OK, comfy bed, but had to get maintenance to fix the plug plunger for the sink. Would have expected housekeeping to notice this. Then, after I went to bed I tried to adjust the AC but it just kept reverting to "high" so had to call reception at 1.30am to fix it. Fortunately it was fixed remotely. Dined in The Grill. The hotel thoughtfully provide minibuses to get you around the site. Waiting staff were helpful and friendly but I didn't care much for the food - moules mariniere. Strange taste. There was plentiful food at breakfast but it was all s but bland. Overall it was a disappointing stay for a 5 star hotel. I prefer the Vale Resort. Kettle had scale on outside.

Great hotel with beautiful scenery and really good restaurants. Only disappointment was the lack of accessibility to lower floors with a pushchair.

Stayed at the Celtic Manor Resort recently and came away feeling a little disappointed overall. The bed was genuinely excellent and most of the staff we dealt with were friendly and polite, but for a hotel marketed as five-star, parts of the experience didn’t really match the price point. On arrival, the concierge/car parking experience felt unnecessarily dismissive, which isn’t the welcome you expect when paying premium prices. The hotel itself also feels quite dated in areas. The room was comfortable, but surprisingly lacked basic touches you’d normally expect at this level — no bottled water, no minibar. After arriving late, we also found the night menu extremely limited, to the point we didn’t bother ordering food. The bar service was fine, but automatically adding a 10% discretionary service charge onto drinks left a slightly sour taste, especially when four pints came to around £36. Overall, not a terrible stay by any means, but it didn’t feel like a true five star experience for the money charged.

Disappointed with the stay last night. Staff were good, food was great for dinner and breakfast. Room let us down a bit, shower needs an upgrade. Hair dryer was broken, ironing board was broken. It is just in need of a refresh. Golf is great there, hotel just lets it down a little. I just felt it was a bit mediocre.

The Good: Staff were friendly and helpful. The food was great, plenty of options for places to eat. Plenty of activities available and easy to book. The Bad: No complimentary parking. Some of the lifts were broken and had been for several days before we arrived. There seemed to be no interest in getting them fixed. Quite disappointed overall, not sure I would ever come back. Would have been better booking a holiday abroad.

Enjoyed our overnight stay in the Celtic Manor and had time to recharge our batteries. The male member of staff at Reception was exceptional! (Sorry we didn't make a note of his name.) He was particularly welcoming, helpful and informative about all amenities available and booked all the little extras for us. The staff at 'The Grill' were also great, where we enjoyed a tasty meal in a relaxing atmosphere. Additionally, the breakfast offered plenty of variety the following morning. We opted to pay extra for a room with a balcony, however, although it was clean, comfortable and looked nice enough, on close inspection it needed a make-over and a lot of TLC. The balcony was shoddy and the door leading out to it didn't close properly so it was draughty. However, the worst experience for us during this visit was the pool and spa. Despite booking our 'slot', it was full to the brim. There were adults and children diving in to the pool even though there were lifeguards on duty and signs to discourage this. The steam room and jacuzzi / hot tubs were also jammed packed, and so were impossible to sample and enjoy. This aspect was disappointing and unacceptable.

Disappointed with some of the trip as I was told this was a high level hotel with real distinction. £25 to park my car in car park for the overnight stay???? On arrival my room was not ready at 1:30pm & was promised I would be called when it was ready. Eventually after 3 o’clock I went back to ask about my room and was told I could’ve been given a room when I first came that was ready but just mine wasn’t ready yet. The staff member didn’t understand why I hadn’t been offered this option. I had ordered an oat milk. I had ordered an oat milk cappuccino and told them it had to be Sawyer or oat and was then served a cows milk cappuccino. Only when I tried it did I question it with the staff who confirmed it was not out milk. Only after this had happened did she ask me if I had an allergy. My room was old-fashioned but suitable and the bed and pillow is comfortable. Wi-Fi was okay and adequate speed. When I wanted an evening meal and rang to 2 of the restaurants, I would have to wait over an hour to be able to get a meal and at 9 pm for one of them was way too late. I was told to go to Merlin spa where I could eat and need no reservation but it really only had a burger, chicken wings and some sandwiches to eat. The chicken wings were okay but nothing special at £15 with chips included. The best part of the entire trip was the excellent breakfast which was phenomenal and extremely high-quality.
