I would not recommend staying here! Went for a quick family getaway for a week before all the hustle & bustle of the school year. HUGE MISTAKE 😳. First, the hotel is not listed in google maps so our driver had to circle several times in order to even find the property. The property has no signage anywhere so once you’ve arrived you don’t even know you’ve arrived. We then pull up to the lackluster entrance of the resort(if you want to call it that). We stepped out of our black car onto maybe Gilligan’s Island, that may be a compliment actually. You are greeted with the horrendous smell of sewage. No bellhop, no welcome drink just FUNK!!! Our kids immediately looked at us and was like y'all got scammed didn’t y’all. We were mortified. The smell, the lack of proper greeting. Our room wasn’t ready, which for the life of me I couldn’t understand because it seemed as if we were the only people on the “resort”. There is so much more to write about this place, but I’m getting worked up again just thinking about it! Save your money… I wouldn’t even accept a free vacation from this place. Do better. You all should not be open for business. I will say the staff was apologetic & sympathized with us.

Only 1 restaurant open for breakfast same food every day only 1 restaurant open for lunch same food every day and only one restaurant open for dinner different style of cuisine daily they do offer Pizza most days not all days from Al Forno pizza which is very good. No beach access at all what is left of the beach that’s not destroyed is covered in seaweed they also have a lot of construction going on I was told 20 percent occupancy was there during our stay I tried to book a salon experience they were closed also. The room was cleaned daily and staff was very friendly. Would I return not likely

The beaches were completely unusable. I had planned a beach resort vacation for my son and partner, only to arrive and find the entire beach closed due to excessive seaweed and a pervasive, unpleasant smell throughout the property. The facilities are definitely not as nice as advertised. It’s a quiet place—mainly because there were very few guests. On the positive side, the restaurant staff were exceptionally polite and friendly, and the spa was excellent. However, dealing with management was a completely different experience. They were unreasonably strict and unwilling to listen to any concerns. I had to check out after just a few days due to the overwhelming seaweed odor and lack of beach access, but they refused to acknowledge or find a reasonable middle ground due to my early check out.

Seaweed smell is terrible. No activities/shows in the resort. Limited food options. Buffet is not open. No beach available. Beach is full of seaweed and whole resort smells bad. Can't sit in the balcony because of smell. Very bad resort. Not all restaurants are open everyday. Lobby is empty.

Beautiful resort and amazing staff (they were the highlight). Our favorite was the cabanas on the beach. Under new ownership with renos underway so lowlight was loud construction one night until 2 am and no running water on our departure day at 5:30 am (no shower before long travel day). There were no 'heads up' about these. Got called daily about meeting with sales person for excursions, etc, despite being very clear we weren't interested. Beach is very rocky (big rocks) and lots of seaweed at times. Overall, trip was good, but probably would try som

This was our very first family vacation with our 2 kids. Everything was amazing. The food at every restaurant was incredible, the staff were all amazing. The waiter Alma was our favorite, she was always brining drinks, telling us about Mexico. The property was clean, the kids side pool does need to be renovated but our kids were in there for hours every day. Highly recommend!!!

The food was average as far as variations which would be okay for a short stay, but it became monotonous after a few dinners and lunches. The rooms and property were VERY clean. The beach is not great. Lots of seaweed, rocky and murky. Beach beds are nice, it just not a swimable beach and there is no where to walk along the beach as it is blocked off about a 1/2 mile down with walls and no sand. Every staff member was amazing and got us anything we needed. Great for a short stay as long as you don't want to get in the ocean water from the beach.

The hotel was well maintained and staff were mostly all really friendly and professional. The atmosphere was great and we never felt like the hotel was jammed. The food was amazing and the pop-up stands for lunch was great. Even the buffet for breakfast and lunch was great. But some guests were there to party and they kept me and my two kids up a few nights. Maybe ensuring that adults are not in a room next to someone with kids could be helpful. The expeditions offered at the hotel are way too expensive. Expediation offered them and they were affordable. The guy offering Kayak time is not telling you at first that you need to pay and then he refused our money in front of everyone. If you choose this hotel, plan for a shuttle to and from the airport. It is not provided in the package nor mentioned.

We had a wonderful time at the Palmar Beach resort, formally named the Azul Beach Resort. The food was the best part, with 5 or 6 dining options. We had some amazing meals and amazing service. The name a few people that helped us at the restaurants and around the hotel: Javier, Mateo from the main dinning room, can't remember the name. Jesus, Angel from Al Forno the pizza and service was amazing and enjoyed eating and talking with them everyday! Mannanuel, Cruz and a taller guy helped us and 2 different locations for dinner and were absolutely amazing team. Really grateful for them all. We spilt drinks each night, had to reorder do to kids not likely they food choices and we got no issues or push back, just quick happy service. Thank you guys!! Around the hotel we had Emir and Bettyna help us most and really made us feel taken care of. The house keeping was good. No complaint on their work, our only issue was they didn't come at the same time each day, so we never knew when to expect. The service staff spoke very little english which made it hard to communicate any requests, like more towels or water. Lastly we needed an extra bed for our room and had to ask 10 times over 8 hours (through the main desk, operator on the room, bell boy, and a housekeeper). at 9 pm I went up to the front desk crying I was so tired before we finally got our 5th bed for 5 people. So that sucked. But it was all uphill from that moment. Great time overall. Safe, quiet, clean and fun!
