This is a great hotel, and a lovely experience but in places it is showing it age and the 15 years since a refurb. Cracked window and tired stair carpet undermine a lovely historic buildings appeal.

Traditional, cosy hotel, with amazing view over the valley and river Derwent. Food was very good, and the staff helpful. Would recommend for a weekend retreat or a special occasion in the countryside, with plenty to explore all around.

The restaurant staff were extremely attentive and went beyond my expectations to make our dining experience special. Very friendly and responsive. Looking forward to a return visit.

The Talbot hotel is in an old manor house, it has plenty of character and is a relaxing place to stay. The food and drink options are excellent and everyone of the staff are professional and helpful. We've stayed here twice and will certainly do so again.

The hotel is lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom and en-suite were very spacious. The food was very good but their alcohol was a bit dearer, than other hotels of the same calibre.

Excellent food and service both for evening meal and breakfast. We had the private dining room, which for a larger party I really can recommend. Though we were not required to we pre-ordered which made the whole evening seamless. Probably just me but there were 6 different light switches in the room. Finding the right combination for bathroom, ceiling and bedside trial and error.

Dont be put off by the external appearence of the hotel as inside its excellent. Our room was spacious, well equipped, comfortable and quiet. The staff were friendly and helpful, dinner was good, breakfast adequate.

We booked the accessible room and it was gorgeous. Sometimes accessible rooms aren't very appealing; however, this one was amazing. A huge bedroom, plenty of room to get around the bed. A huge wet room. The furnishings and toiletries were gorgeous. A truly beautiful room. Staff were very welcoming. We had a guide dog with us and the room contained a lovely dog bed, 2 dog bowls and a doggy welcome pack containing a rope toy, treats etc. Would love to stay sgain.

First of all, every single staff member we interacted with were superb. Lovely room and views. Great little touches throughout the hotel. Love the bar. Good breakfast and the restaurant was lovely too with good food offerings.
