We had stayed at the Waring House previously (about 2 years ago) and it was pretty good. This time, the room we got smelled of a dead animal. We asked to change it and Ashley at the bar was super helpful and helped us change it when the reception closed. However, when we went to return the keys to our original room in the morning, the reception didn’t note the room change so we didn’t get any housekeeping come in and clean our room. All this would be fine but the place was dirty and covered in cobwebs, etc. When we checked out today, I shared that our room was never cleaned yesterday and then wasn’t any acknowledgment let alone an apology for the inconvenience of not only changing rooms but also not having it cleaned during our stay. Will not be returning. The food in the restaurants (breakfast and dinner) has also gone downhill though the servers were wonderful.

Everything was just perfect, from start to finish. Wonderful breakfast and excellent food at the pub.

Fabulous breakfast. Beautiful gardens

The property is beautiful. The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. The only criticism was the food. The menu is extensive and appealing, but the food was not well cooked. Lots of room for improvement. It was a disappointment because the dining room and the pub room were extremely comfortable and relaxing. However, we would definitely plan a return visit, but would dine out.

I loved the rooms, the grounds were well maintained the pup is comfortable and we had live music to enjoy. Many wineries in the area to visit and sites to see. We had a wonderful time. I was not impressed however with the food there were four of us for dinners at the pub for two nights. Prices are excellent but the food itself left much to be desired. They did refund one of our dinners as it was not enjoyable and less than half was eaten. Breakfast seemed like potatoes and bacon had been prepared ahead of time and were very dry and over cooked . Granola was oats and sunflower seeds only very little dried fruit very blah. I’m sorry I have to write this because we really enjoyed our stay I would return just wouldn’t eat there.I would also recommend a grab bar for the deep tub for safety getting in and out.

STD room bed was small , I think a double size , otherwise everything was great ,pub , breakfast included , room , bueatiful gardens ,lots of parking ,checkin/out etc .

It’s a pleasure to stay at Waring house whenever we come to the County. Everything clean and tidy and the staff always nice and helpful.

The gardens are stunning. The staff is very friendly. The layout spread over multiple buildings makes for a charming experience. The live entertainment in the pub was very good.

We had not expected the extensive gardens, a truly lovely property. The staff were all very helpful, our room was in the original homestead and it was tastefully decorated. We did not have WIFI in our room which probably was not the case in the newbuildings. Nevertheless we were welcomed to sit in the charming bar with our tablets. The breakfast which was included in our booking was first rate. We'll be back!

Charming inn, although room was a little dated. Breakfast was fantastic, lots of choice. Wait staff were excellent. Gardens were beautiful and location very central.

We would love to give a better review of the property, it seems like it could be charming for a three star hotel and the property itself has lovely flowers this time of year. But there was nobody there when we checked in, our room was not clean when we arrived, with dirty rags on the floor and the shower looking like it had seen better days. The room was also not cleaned DURING our stay, even when we called to ask, the elderly woman at the check-in desk said there was nothing she could do about it and made us retrieve our own towels. In terms of the included breakfast, the staff neglected to remove allergens from our plate, even when asked. Though everybody seemed nice, the level of service was certainly not befitting $800 for two nights. I would only recommend seeing if you’re paying $150 a night or less.

The check-in staff were unfriendly. The shower curtain was worn out and dragged on the bathtub floor. Only one shampoo was provided, which was insufficient.

Very impressed with the Waring House. Lovely location, huge clean room. Ideally located next to the millennium cycle trail through the countryside and close to Picton. Only down side was the Pork was dry and they have a culinary school so it was disappointing but otherwise couldn’t fault the place. One top tip would be to have cycle hire on site as the nearest is a drive away and if you wanted to cycle the Millennium trail and wine taste you are limited.

Breakfast is excellent and the pub has an authentic atmosphere. However, the exterior of the buildings we get assigned to as clients who have used Hotels.com to book are starting to rundown noticeably, if not dangerously so. Also, the bathroom showers in these same buildings are amazingly small even though the room itself is very generous in size.

The bed was having squeaky sound so couldn’t sleep and were not well rested. Reported at check out time.
