Ideally located for the city centre, the Abode stands proud between the race course and the centre with a fifth floor bar and restaurant offering fantastic views. Our room was comfortable with a large shower room. Overnight parking on site was expensive compared to the large public car park just a 3 minute walk away. I didn’t enjoy the continental breakfast, staff served the toast and it wasn’t toasted - also no choice in bread. It was cheap, but I would have preferred to pay more and have a bit more choice.

Our room was down graded because on an issue with it which was fine but we're not informed beforehand only when we checked it. I would have appreciated been contacted before hand

Great hotel, well situated. Good size well appointed rooms with very comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Definitely use again.

All good on arrival , room not ready so went for a drink, back at 15.00 room ready(320) looked great but stank of sewage, wife complained ( I can't speak), relocated to room 220, nice room, spotless. All ok until shower time, only one towel, wife complained again, rectified. Went for dinner, all good except tables in bar area not cleaned and had debris on them. Sat down to dinner, ordered food and bottle of chateau neuf de pap, food came, no wine, didn't have any neuf de pap, ordered alternative which arrived as we were finishing our main courses, wife had had enough, sent wine back. Manager came over, wife spoke with her, resolved issues. Meal at no charge. There were several other minor things, it feels as if hotel is on the brink of failing, eg if we looked out of our window there was lots of patio furniture left out in the rain with filthy tables left in disarray. Wouldn't take much to put them away tidily, showed an air of disinterest. Also down stairs bar not open, dont see why, doesn't make any kind of business sense, it was closed 5 years ago too. All in all I was very disappointed, I had planned this visit to celebrate my birthday (66) and the end of 6 weeks of radiotherapy, and to treat my wife who has had alot to contend with. Could have been so much better.

Reasonable price, good amount of secure underground parking albeit this costs £20 extra which I thought was a bit too steep. The hotel has easy and quick access to the centre of Chester, the race course or to get back out to the motorways. The room and bathroom were large with air con. They were clean, comfy and well equipped. The shower was nice and powerful. The bar/restaurant itself is on the top floor with lovely views and balcony, nice staff and food. My suggestion to the hotel is to have plug sockets near the beds so I can charge my phone and use it more easily as an alarm.

Great location & lovely hotel

We stayed here last year and the continental breakfast was excellent, This time however the continental breakfast has been drastically downgraded to a light breakfast, with a very limited choice included, to get a cooked breakfast you have to upgrade, we were very disappointed about this, although we don't eat a huge amount it is nice to have a choice of a small amount different items included.

Lovely friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for reception staff. £20 overnight parking is a little extortionate though! Didn't note electric charging points in car park, although I didn't ask either (have hybrid, so not really an issue for me). Could be useful in future though. No tea/coffee making facilities in room- just water.

Checked in and staff were lovely and very helpful Later in the evening we decided to try the roof top bar, unfortunately more training is needed for the bar tenders as the cocktails had to be remade due to them not being made right, and even on the second attempt still not right but more palatable. One set of towels in the bath room rang reception to be told have you checked the wardrobe, Yes.. did you look in the black bag…… No. Why you would put clean towels in a black bag in the wardrobe is very strange you are more lividly to put dirty towels in a black bag than clean, never see any hotel do this before. Breakfast 🙃 well continental breakfast is what is advertised which is over sold and under delivered… all you get on the continental is three different cereals limited fruit and tea and coffee You were then allowed to choose one item from light bites so if you chose the porridge you then could have toast or pastries with out paying another £5.00. You were allowed one glass of juice I asked for cranberry off the menu told there was none so opted for a different one then 10 minutes later a guest on the opposite table ordered cranberry and was served cranberry. You could then order at an additional £10.00 cooked breakfast but no one came to see if we wanted, the napkin and cutlery were dirty on the table also It is a shame as the hotel has so much potential, staff were doing the best they could but definitely not with the money. This hotel group is now a miss for us..

The location is pretty good and room was a good size but the hotel felt tired generally. Breakfast was quite poor and the breakfast lounge a bit grubby, crumbs still on seats from night before and table tops could be cleaner. The staff were very helpful and the room was nice and clean. Very comfy bed.

First time staying at the Abode, very impressed with the exception of steam extraction in the bathroom and perhaps brighter lighting in the bedroom .
