Great location, excellent breakfast, friendly staff.

Parking was easy and secure not something you find that often so yes good. Staff was super happy,bar was great and well stocked being a pub owner myself it was lovely to see , definitely coming back

It's a lovely old hotel BUT... There's no lift and for me, age 77, the 50 stairs up to my room, and back down, were not easy to manage. The hotel, as at April 2026, is undergoing some renovation which made things more awkward and left a lot of mess and dirt around. There was no help to get suitcases upstairs. Having said that the staff were all lovely people and breakfast was good. The car park is useful but a bit of distance from the hotel and up a hill to get out of the car park and down again to the hotel. Rooms are somewhat noisy in the day and evening although Frome does get quiet after 11pm in the week. A bit later on Friday evening!

First the pros. The staff are wonderful!! Super helpful and friendly. The breakfast was also amazing! Good selections and tastes delicious! The restaurant area is nicely decorated and modern. There’s a good selection of toiletries and we had a nice large room with high ceilings. Now the cons. The parking garage is very tight and the other option is a paid lot down the street, just not very convenient. The bed and pillows were so hard and the walls are thin. Didn’t sleep well but I’m also a light sleeper. Generally a dated look upstairs. You also need to check into your room at the bar and carry your luggage through the restaurant. No elevator. It did seem like they were doing some renovations though and going by what the restaurant looks like it’ll be lovely! I did feel the good outweighs the bad though and I’d stay again. I’ll just bring my own pillow next time!

Condition could be improved, heating initially wasn’t working, but resolved.

Staff very good . Room small … And as most hotels at present needs an urgent lick of paint … which looking at the signs around the hotel is taking place

Fantastic staff gave a warm welcome and great service throughout our stay. Parking was very convenient and secure although was a tight space. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice.

The room was very nice and clean. I loved the hot breakfast option. I stayed only one night and it was a great choice.

We chose to park in the Pay and display car park as suggested by other reviewers and had no problems with that. Be aware that we saw the traffic warden twice though and quite a few cars were being ticketed.

Parking was a bit of a squeeze, but was ok, staff and manager Wayne was very good and helpful, all the staff was happy, bar well stocked, tables all clean. A lovely atmosphere, food was nice and staff were very polite and helpful, room was lovely and clean comfortable beds and toiletries were a bonus, they were great.

No parking had to use public car park. Staff were very friendly. Room was good and did what we needed. Great breakfast

The property is in the middle of town so very convenient for a look around the following day. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us in the room (69 year olds). The beds were comfy and clean as was the bathroom. The decor was a little sad in the rooms but the comfort and price more than met expectations. My biggest concern was that we were put in the 2nd floor, with no lift and I have big mobility problems and struggled to get up and down the stairs. When asked if there was a similar room on the bottom floor I was told it was for two adults and a child only. I feel this is discriminating against disabled people (pensioners) who may not want a single room. And the risks of vacating the hotel in case of a fire would be a huge problem. To finish on a high note, the breakfast was very good, and we went back for a drink at lunch time and the food looked amazing but we were too full to eat after the size of the breakfast.

Lovely comfortable room... We enjoyed a gorgeous breakfast. Staff were very pleasant and most helpful. A very nice atmosphere! Great evening meal!! Parking our car was nice and secure. Thank you again for an enjoyable stay.

Great food

Fantastic value on a true English inn (reception at end of the bar) in the centre of a quaint market town. very spacious and clean bed and bath rooms, generous made to order breakfasts included, exceedingly nice and responsive staff. The George could justify twice the price the bathroom walls were fixed and the practice of storing linen bags in the hallways was rethought. Given the low rate, not the worst problems.

Everything you expect from an old building was there. quirky and a bit flaky in places but loved staying there. breakfast was banging, parking was easy even for a large car. we will be back again soon.
