Great breakfast, good food, comfortable and clean room, pleasant courtyard and beer garden. Dog friendly and easy access to local walks, Hathersage and Stanage Edge. Would recommend.

Nice room with great service and a really top rate breakfast

Altogether lovely. We had motorbikes but the staff arranged for these to be locked away overnight, which was very kind and gave us peaceful sleep. The rooms were very nicely decorated and furnished with a comfy bed. The young man who managed the place was helpfulness personified - a perfect hotellier. The owner, Bob, is also an extraordinarily kind and charming host. The food was really good - my two German friends travel a lot and they really rated the cooking. Also, they found the Timothy Taylor's Landlord bitter very much to their liking and drank rather more than they perhaps should have at their ages. Totally recommended.

The pub/hotel itself has walls of awards for food, so you can be sure of a good meal. The room itself was (I guess) a converted stable at rear of the building. Charming little room with a shower room upstairs. Very comfortable and great for what we wanted, a short break for a couple with dog. Hathersage is only 3/4 mile along the road with pavement, or alternative footpath across fields. We did the 6 mile Jane Eyre walk from the village up onto Stanage Edge.

The whole 5 night stay was perfect, from start to finish. Great room, great staff, great food and all in a perfect location in the Peak District.

We had a great stay here with our two dogs. The staff was wonderful and we really enjoyed the breakfast every morning. Dinner and drinks were enjoyed every night. It’s in a good location to access hikes without driving anywhere.

We stayed in the shepherds hut with the dog and it was fantastic we was in the area for a walking weekend had food in the plough and it was amazing. We will be back John, Jenni and kova the Labrador

Excellent inn in beautiful countryside. Staff very friendly everything spotlessly clean bed, pillows and linen very comfortable. Would not hesitate to stay again

From arrival to departure... the experience was wonderful! We stayed in the three shepherds huts which are beautifully updated to a very high standard. Dinner was DELISH as was breakfast. AVOID paying via hotels.com because it caused serious checkout problems... but NOT the fault of The Plough Inn -- WE LOVED IT!

A lovely location to stay for a few days walking. Owners and staff welcoming and friendly, good food, breakfast & evening, good service. Shepherds huts are clean, warm & cosy. Within good distance for both Chatsworth House & Bakewell also good walks from the inn. I had a very pleasant stay, thank you to the staff.
