We do nit intend to return to Le Metropol. It was dirty and un-maintained. The bathroom was disgusting, the paint t is peeling and the laminate is peeling and crumbling. The room had not been cleaned properly as we found an unknown tablet on the floor beside the bed. This is very worrying as we had our dog with us, and if she had found it she could have been very sick.

Breakfast was two pieces of bacon with what appeared to be scrambled egg made from one egg. Even the cold meats looked old Room dirty, mould around the window frame. Expose water pipes going to an old cast iron radiator. Toilet so close to the wall even at 5"4 I couldn't sit straight. Ended up checking out early demanding a refund that was approved.

Parking was good, breakfast was ok, staff very friendly. Property just ok.

So easy to park the car - room near the garage and great breakfast. Only 8 mins from the Shuttle at 11pm at night - a welcome place with tired children. Perfect for a quick overnight.

This hotel may have once been a popular choice of VIPs when the Channel Tunnel was being built, but that was 30+ years ago, which may be the last time it was decorated, the beds and carpets were renewed and the plumbing was serviced. Any of a certain vintage (and perhaps UK visitors only) will remember Faulty Towers… well don’t think you’re likely to meet the real life Basil Faulty at The Metropol, even Basil wouldn’t stay here. We booked and paid for two nights, but could not bear to stay more than the one night we let ourselves in for… to top off our horrendous experience, we were charged €4 each for a 50cl bottle of water for the room, which had clearly cost the hotel less than an euro. Do not stay here unless you wish to be ripped off and experience one of the worst hotel, room and night’s sleep you’ve likely ever had.

The check in was very quick and done by a lovely friendly lady who spoke excellent English. Parking was free of charge in the road outside the hotel with apparently a night porter to keep an eye on it. Our room was huge! Very comfy bed and a big shower with tons of hot water. Tea and coffee making stuff in the room. We didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that! When we checked out in the morning we learnt we had been the only ones in the hotel! Very friendly gentleman to check us out. Please stay here and help small independent hotels survive, rather than book a corporate one , and in our case it was cheaper too! Thank you for a lovely stay 😊

Have just returned home. Stayed three nights at this hotel and really enjoyed it. The room was very clean, the beds comfortable, the bathroom lovely and clean with super hot water for the shower. Breakfast was .very good, an excellent amount of choice. The staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a relaxing stay. Also price really good for what you get.

We enjoyed our overnight stay at the Metropol. The room was clean, fresh and comfy. We had a good nights sleep. The staff were great and the breakfast was very good, thank you.

It was cheap and basic. Didn’t feel clean but it was fine for one night. It had a kettle which was lovely and reception was almost friendly.

Rooms need refreshed, no wifi in room only in reception. States soundproof but can hear noise from corridor also from road. Noise from trains very loud. Okay for the 1 night but wouldn't stay longer

The hotel had a lot of olde-world charm, the staff were very friendly, we could park outside easily. The area around the hotel wasn't the greatest but no worries and we could walk to shops and restaurants. We would not hesitate to stay there again

A very pleasant stay. Old world French charm with friendly staff. The nights were a little warm without air conditioning, but the price was very fair being so close to downtown.

The property was really good. There was a lovely charm about the hotel. The staff were lovely - very kind and helpful with the language. The location is great - just around the corner from the train station and very close to the city centre. All in all - and bearing in mind the price - really, really good.
