Access to car park and car park itself are uneven. Staff were helpful and welcoming. Cannot comment on public areas in hotel as did not use, but reception area is small and dingy and feels very old fashioned. Room 16 (budget single)

Driving surface for access to hotel and in car park is rough and uneven. Hotel entrance and reception feels tired and in need of redecoration. Room 2 was very poor. It was very hot and only one window would open. Electrical sockets were hard to access or did not work. Furniture felt mismatched to room and oddly arranged. Kettle was practically hidden on a low table in the corner in order to be near a socket. Bathroom floor was in very poor state and needs replacing. Basin plug did not work properly. This room needs a total revamp. Cannot comment on public areas such as var or restaurant as did not use. Staff were welcoming and helpful. Good location with good views and great access to Dartmoor.

This was my second time staying at this hotel. The staff are so lovely and friendly and make it a very enjoyable experience. I also love how quiet the area is - on the moor so I sleep very well here!

Room was clean with plenty of amenities amd an abundance of rea making facilities. Staff were really friendly and attentive. My only criticism is that parts of thr romm/hotel were started to look a little tired. A remote control which is actually readable would also be a big help. Location is fantastic with views out to Plymouth Sound

I have been staying at the Moorland for over twenty five years and never disappointed. New owners are extremely helpful and food still excellent. Just need to tidy the place and carry out some decorating as the location is fantastic

We enjoyed our 2 night stay here and we had a very good evening meal. A little out dated but we expected that as it’s a Moorland hotel and would rather it that way. Very near to the Hotel is the Drakes bike trail and one way is Tavistock and the other is Plymouth so makes excellent place to stay if you like biking😊

Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was clean and welcoming although a little tired. Breakfast was pleasant - not outstanding but all ok. Plenty of tea/coffee in the room.

Was as described. Dog friendly. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Shame they don't do vegan food but guess not many places do on the moors.

Nice rooms for the price, had everything you need. Walls are a bit thin. Owner was a very nice chap. The food in the restaurant was reasonable, overall a pleasant stay

Hotel is nowhere near the 8.8 rating on website. So bad we left after two hours at property. Hotel is tatty and unloved. Room decor was dated and scuffed. Slide door to balcony corroded and difficult to move. Balcony drainage channel with many cigarette ends. Shower grout mouldy. Bathroom floor damaged and lifting. Basin did not drain. Poor lighting in bathroom. Bedroom carpet old and stained. Small bloodstain on bed duvet. Kettle dirty on outside and stale water in it. Television damaged with part of screen blacked out and lines from crack. Dirt , debris and staining behind bed and bedside tables. The only positive feature is the surrounding area view.
