Location was great. Staff was great. Our room was facing the hotel restaurant, could not open the window otherwise smell of food along with the the flies and the noise would come in. The room was not cleaned properly. I think they forgot to vacuum the floors or they used a mop very quickly. It felt gross to me. Bed was not the best either. Price was reasonable.

Good location

great location, in the centre of everything, a lot of cafe and restaurants near by, but because of that if you are light sleeper and want a quiet hotel then this might not for you. Stuffs are very friendly and helpful. overall it is a nice hotel

The room was tiny, most of it occupied by a king bed. The ceiling in the washroom was wet and dripping. On the positive side, the room was clean and the breakfast was very good! The hotel is very close to the City Gates square and the harbor. AFAIK, there's no parking available at the hotel. All in all, a good short stay at a reasonable cost in Ponta Delgada's downtown.

Nous sommes très satisfaits de l'emplacement à Ponta Delgada, du personnel très serviable et de la taille de la chambre et de l'entretien de la chambre. Nous avons mis 3 étoiles pour le confort parce qu'il faisait froid et humide dans la chambre le premier soir. Il n'y avait plus d'appareil de chauffage d'appoint mais, heureusement, on en a reçu un le lendemain. De plus, les lits étaient trop durs et le déjeuner manquait de choix.

Amazing staff, from the breakfast staff to the dinner staff, clean rooms, as well as the receptionist. They are all very helpful and friendly! I am happy that tradition of excellent service remains at this Hotel! Love the location as well. My 2nd time and we will continue to go back to the same hotel.

The hotel is beautiful and the location was perfect. The staff is warm, friendly and helpful. The breakfast was included and there were many options. There was a musty smell in our room which needs some attention. Other than that it was great.

Excellent location, excellent staff and good breakfast. Restaurant on site is excellent but popular so reserve ahead. Some sort of disco has opened next door, try to get a room away from that side or you will be hearing it until 2:30am even during the week. Too bad, this hotel is excellent except for what is out of their control.

Exceptional European class hotel. Simple but everything you need for a restful night sleep after exploring all day. Hotel staff super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very nice with local food items. Would definitely stay here again.

The breakfast was good. They had a good selection of food- hot and cold. The staff were friendly and welcoming. My room was upgraded after the temperature could not be regulated. Housecleaning staff were very thorough. I liked the coffee pods giving a strong cup of coffee.

Spacious rooms reasonably priced with great location in city core. Some noise from bar next door 2 nights of 8 but muffled with closed windows. Included breakfast was predictable each day but was quite passable for a quick bite. Many restaurants within 5 minute walk including the dock.

I recently stayed at Alcides Hotel and found it to be a charming choice for my visit, especially given its central location. The staff here were incredibly nice, making the experience all the more pleasant. A significant drawback, however, is the lack of on-site parking, and a rental car is a must to explore the area. Fortunately, there is free parking available about a ten-minute walk from the hotel. The rooms are quite small, which is typical for older European hotels. While they provide the basic necessities and serve their purpose, the bed was extremely hard. I was thankful to have brought my own pillow. Despite being rated as a 2-star establishment, Alcides Hotel deserves a 3-star rating in my book. I’m giving it 4 stars, mainly because it offers excellent value for the price.

Overall, the property was Good: breakfasts, the dinner we had, the rooms were all as expected; the interior decor is good: the dining room had a display cabinet with an old radio set I remember from when I was a kid!! The location is a short walk (downhill) to the City Gates, good for buses, shops and marina with its shops and restaurants. Unfortunately, we were in a street facing room where, on Wednesday night, we were woken up by music and what must have been karaoke at about 0130 (Thursday). When we made a complaint to the front desk Thursday morning, they were sympathetic and moved us to another room without issue. They said they had previous issues with noise, even to the extent of calling the police - who would seem powerless to act, as the licence for the venue (Outrolado, next door to the hotel) is for Wednesdays to Sundays, 1900 to 0200. This venue is the only one of its sort in the area: the licence seems at odds with the locale. Once I find out to whom to moan at in PDL, I intend to write a letter of complaint. The hotel doesn't need it and I guess, neither do any locals who live nearby.

The hotel is located in the city center and easy to find. The breakfast is great I loved the fresh squeezed orange juice!

I booked two double rooms, one 11 months out and one 8 months out. I confirmed with them that the rooms were good since they were checking I didnt accidentally book 2 rooms. 2 weeks before they tell me that the single room wouldn't be available and wanted to see if we can take a triple room. I never booked a single room but was told that even though I paid the price for a room with a double bed because it was a single traveler they were going into the single room. My mom rebooked herself into another hotel and let them know, waited a few days and they never cancelled my mom's room, not sure if they were hoping I forgot and they could keep it, they were surprised when I cancelled it asking if I was still planning on staying there. I ended up getting a triple room even though I just wanted the double, not sure if they were planning on sticking us both in this room and collecting the fees for 2 rooms. Later when checking out the 'locked' room with my bags was unlocked and the door was wide open, I walked out with my bags without telling anyone. If you are a single visitor and want a double room, say you have two people otherwise they will downgrade you.

Ideally located on pedestrian street, good sized room for a 2 star. The grab and go breakfast for early departures was great. They also booked my taxi for 4:45 am. Overall just a good deal.
