Beautiful castle, well kept. Garden was incredible. I want to visit the place again. Nice staff and volunteers, who take care of the garden. Wall paintings are are a bit funny, and ceiling decorations pretty

I’ve always wanted to stay in a castle, so I booked this hostel hoping for a unique experience. What I got was a remote location in the middle of nowhere, unhelpful staff, and a complete lack of basic guidance for tourists. As someone unfamiliar with the area, I asked a few simple questions, only to be met with blank stares, passive-aggressive responses, or useless half-answers. If you hate talking to travelers, maybe don’t work in a hostel. I nearly got run over because no one thought to mention the bike lanes. That said, Anna, who I met in the morning was the one redeeming part of my stay. She was kind, informative, and actually gave a damn. She took the time to explain the area and helped me map out my day. Everyone else? Honestly, don’t even bother.

Fabulous location, beautiful castle and surrounding gardens in the countryside. Rooms could do with more attention to detail on cleaning! Nooks and crannies not cleaned for some time (hotel room cleaner for many years!). Food was bland and not warm enough. Some workers very friendly and helpful, reception and barman! Some who were dishing up the food not so much. But in general a good place to stay!

Heemskerk is a lovely place with a lot of possibilities, from sightseeing, to shopping in the village to biking and hiking into the dunes and on the beach. Getting there with public transport is a little bit of a hussle, it took me half an half an hour hike but the scenery was worthed to make a few beautiful pictures. Biking to Strandwijk aan Zee is a bit of dull bike ride next to the highway, but I really enjoyed the bike ride to Heemskerk strand, since the ride is through the friendly village and the Beautiful, serene nature and Sandy dunes. The castle is Nice , small and cosy. The gardens around it are Well attended. The staff is kind and helpfull.
