The hotel looked jaded and worn out. The reception staff were quite helpful. The breakfasts were a nightmare, things run out, staff panicking because they were short staffed according to a member of staff. Everything was self-service so why were they so overwhelmed. Couldn't open the windows in the room and had to get staff assistance. Lighting in the room was atrocious and very lacking - no main light, just side lights. Parking costs very steep at £15.00 per night - and very limited. Overall disappointed with the stay and would not return.

We had a suite at the hotel, it was very roomy, full of character and access to a superior breakfast! All well worth the money. Staff were friendly and very helpful too. The only grumble we had, we asked for a fan and there were non available. I've not made this impact the overall stay rating as the weather was unusually extremely hot so the same request had probably came from all rooms - i would say the hotel should have invested in more fans in preparation for the heat wave that week. Also, the breakfast was probably 8/10, but as we arrived quite late in the morning, it was probably the last of the breakfast served to us, again not marked it down as feel would be unfair

Imani the receptionist was incredibly helpful, especially answering all the questions my Partner Val and myself had. She had a wonderful smiling welcome appearance. We upgraded our room to a Suite which suited us both very well. The breakfasts for the 3 days was some of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had in an hotel. (excellent). We enjoyed a leisurely drink in the bar before we sat down to eat our excellent evening meal. I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years with my work, I regard the Crown at the top of my list. We aim to go back early next year for another much anticipated stay. Well done all the staff at the Crown Hotel Harrogate. Regards Barry & Val.

What amusements? Room was too hot

The room was at the rear of the hotel and was overlooked, there were no net curtains only room curtains. Therefore the room had no privacy except when you closed the curtains meaning the room was dark most of the time we spent in it.

Excellent service, executive room was great, receptionist was Zoe, she booked us in and was very helpful, friendly and professional. Highly recommended.

Hotel great, excellent location. My only criticism is the £15 per night parking charges

Rooms are dated. No charging ports, just one power outlet not conveniently located. Maintenance is poor. Location is very good.

Really old fashioned rooms....room smelt of stale water....carpets could do with a good clean. Bar staff left on his own on his first night so was very slow.

The hotel is dated and all rooms need updating as the floor boards all creek as you walk around especially in the bedrooms, the carpets are a little worn and the beds are not particularly comfortable. The staff are friendly enough, we only had breakfast once there and it wasn't that warm either. We had a problem with the hot water in our sink as it was not getting hot and was told by maintenance that he didn't know why it wasn't working and to wash our hands under the bath tap , I found this very difficult as im disabled. Housekeeping didn't really do a great job as the carpet was not hoovered the whole time we were there and the room phone was covered in dust... towels were not changed correctly as they only left 1hand towel and 1 bath towel, I believe they need to either retrain their staff or go round after them.

This hotel is awesome!! The staff are so friendly and accommodating! Special shout out to Marta and Dylan who could not do enough for us and the lovely receptionist who upgraded us on arrival (sorry didn’t get your name) Unfortunately the arrival in our room was slightly marred by the hooligan who decided to bang on our door to demand our silence not appreciating 5 year olds get excited when they are upgraded to a suite, we appreciated it was 10.30 at night but hardly warranted the aggressive nature of his response, it wasn’t exactly the middle of the night! This did not spoil our stay though and we will be coming back later this week

Room clean , bathroom good. Towels good size. Little short on plug sockets for modern day appliances such as phones, hair dryers, hair straighteners.

The location was good. It is a historic hotel. The floors do creak. My bathroom has a stinking smell when I checked in. It was cleaned when I notified the staff who was helpful.
