Close to old Quebec City

The front desk was never manned the hours that it was supposed to be. There was no where to leave luggage securely if you arrive before 4pm or after 11am check out. The room was pretty run down with the heater falling off the wall, terribly noisy bathroom fan, broken blow dryer and a plethora of grunge under the beds. The bathroom heater was rusty, the walls needed touch ups where the paint had been damaged and the laminate flooring looked as though it had been flooded at some point. Constant creaking of the floor boards above made for a poor nights sleep. I would not recommend this hotel. The only benefit would be the location up beside the Chateau.

The property is a nice affordable place to stay.

The location was gold. NO parking and staff did NOT have a clue. The hotel is old! I know it was old Quebec City but it could use a lot of TLC! Shower curtain had 2 tone colors cause it was so old and dirty! Everything was broken in the room that we stayed in. TP holder was on the floor, the fan for the bathroom was broken so we had a crack/space on the ceiling. The drawers for the dresser were dirty. Like I said it is neglected and could use a lot of TLC! At the entrance they had 2 flags, Quebec and Canada flag(whatever was left of them) they were just hanging from thread. The flags reflected the interior of the hotel.

The hotel really needs maintenance. There are no towel hangers by the sink and no place to put soap, etc in shower. Toilet holder is falling off the wall. There is no elevator, but we did know that before. However, the beds were super comfy and clean towels and linen were provided every day. Coffee is in your room. And the location is ideal as it is very close to the boardwalk and many different restaurants. I had fallen on a cement clump and Rodney at the desk was very helpful. He had a first aid kit and bandaged and disinfected my scrapes. He even phoned the next day and gave me new bandages. So a huge shout out to RODNEY. Thanks so much.

This is an older property but is a solid value given its location, practically next door to the Chateau Frontenac. They do not have parking but there’s are a few garages nearby, You don’t need (and shouldn’t want) a car in Old Quebec anyway - the core city is very walkable, if steep in places.

Hotel was a lovely example of the history and architecture in old Quebec. Our room was spacious and bright. Hotel Manager was very helpful. Beware though, that there are no elevators and carrying suitcases up 2-3 flights of stairs can be a challenge.

The location in old town Quebec was great. We had issues with lack of front desk availability including from our initial check in when we arrived to find the front door locked requiring a code that had not been provided to us. Room itself was small but comfortable and clean.

Very worn down place in need of very much TLC. But was clean enough and very good location. Bare minimum provided in terms of room and bath amenities. No elevator in this old building so be aware. No staff other than cleaning folks were on site. All communications were done through email. If you don’t mind staying in a “run down” kind of place for the low cost, it is located in a great location right next to the 5-star Fairmount hotel. :)

We liked the location and history. The staff was helpful at check in. The room could have used another towel bar. The shower is very small. Coffee maker was broken so we could not make Coffee. We were there 3 nights, so it should have been replaced.

Staying at this hotel was frustrating. First of all difficult to get hold of manager. Limited personnel to answer phone. Responds in French. No elevator. I had 50lbs luggage to carry up 5 flights of stairs. This was not mentioned in the ad. The room was small and very old. No closet. While taking shower ran out of hot water. Soap dispenser in the shower is not working. Texted the hotel about my late check in and I did not get the code so I can enter the hotel except for a couple of ladies who happen to be going out so they let us in. I will not recommend this place.

Nice location and good price. My washroom was a bit smelly and the toilet broke due to the chain in the back rusting and snapping so maintenance perhaps could be improved.

Central to all attractions

This properties location is wonderful. Bed was comfortable, Clean sheets. Outward appearance was good. They haven’t moved furniture was a while to clean. Friendly and helpful front desk, when they were there. Property needs upgrading, peeling flooring. No elevator and they have 4 floors - travel light!

The information says the reception is manned until 7.00pm. However, we arrived before that and no one was there. It was difficult to get in and then the keys were just left on the reception desk. The flooring in the bedroom was damaged and in need of repair. The fan in the bathroom sounds like a helicopter is coming into land. Reception did let us borrow a kettle, thank you. The best thing about the hotel is the location.

A quaint, clean older building. Great location. A couple of minute walk to the Promanade. In a quiet location but still very close to everything. The hotel is right beside the back of the Chateau Frontenac. If you have mobility issues, request a ground floor room. No elevator, all stairs. There was no one looking after the desk on a regular basis. However a number is given to call. As well as a security code for the door. Rates are fair. Rooms are spacious and people are very friendly and accomodating. I would stay there again .
