The reception staff all went above and beyond to assist us when we had any enquiries or needed some extra heating for when our room was cold. They also made sure to give information of how to reach the city centre and any other locations. Even the restaurant staff were all of high profession and the food quality was superb.

Good location with several good restaurants close by. Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and quiet, although bathroom was a bit dated and breakfast options were mostly cooked. Overall, great budget option and would certainly recommend.

Loved the friendly welcome and standard of service. The excellent value evening meal and hearty breakfast. The quiet garden at the front in which to sit. It was a short walk to Mickelgate, Holy Trinity and the city centre

On arrival the receptionist wasn't very friendly she informed us that we had a twin room we explained that we had booked a double room she then gave us the key to room 51 on the top floor, the room was very small, the mattress, quilt and pillows were all flat, at 4am the light was shining through the room, resulting in a terrible night's sleep, this could be such an easy fix. We didn't feel that we had a relaxing break on checkout nobody asked how our stay was. We would not recommend this hotel.

Hotel is fabulous, so clean and close to York centre: free parking was a plus for us. Staff very friendly, evening receptionist lent us her personal umbrella as all the hotel ones had been taken by other guests and it was pouring down. Breakfast was lovely and cooked fresh: staff work hard. Bar prices extremely reasonable for a hotel. Will definitely stay again.

Only a short walk from the train station, Wheatlands Lodge Hotel was impressive to look at on first view from the street. Well kept garden at front with seating and tables on lawn. Welcomed on arrival, quick check in, offered a local paper guide to York and a complementary hot drink. The bedroom was comfortable and clean but did look a little dated. The ground floor view from the window of a rear outside service area was disappointing as I guessed those on other floors, especially at the front, would have a nice view of the front gardens and beyond. An issue with the bathroom was fixed quickly upon report. The breakfast was excellent with a good menu choice and was served by friendly and attentive staff. The complementary wi-fi had good strength in my room and was fast enough for streaming on my devices. I would look at staying here again in the future and would greatly recommend it.

Lovely friendly staff and great breakfast menu. Freshly cooked and speedily delivered with a smile! Hotel is spotless and well maintained. Only wish we could visit again but our daughter has decided York University isn't for her, so the moment has passed.

Very good location for the city centre or for racing. The staff are all very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. Could do with some upgrading and modernising, having said that I would stay there again.

Handicapped and traveling alone I was placed in a room so small that I could not open my suitcase. Staff referred to the room as the broom cupboard room. When I asked to change rooms the receptionist was particularly nasty and said she would arrange for me to move to another hotel because they didn’t need my attitude! Sadly this negatively coloured my stay. Breakfast, dinner and the bar were all fine.

The was very clean and comfortable, we were in the back of the hotel which was actually nice because of how quiet it was. All of the staff were very friendly and professional. The breakfast was classic British full breakfast with the baked tomato…Excellent location not far from from the Micklengate and close to old town York. The bar and other sitting areas were very comfortable and welcoming.

Ideal location if you’re happy to have a walk into the city and would like a peaceful room. Price is reasonable for the room. Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Good choice for breakfast and friendly servers. Would happily stay there again.
