I stayed for two nights at the end of may and the first thing I liked was easy access well sign posted parking. The house itself is directly opposite the old castle with its impressive mote complete with moorhens and ducks with their baby ducklings. The house itself is a curious mix of antique and modern but is fascinating to look at. From its old jukebox box, I should have asked if it worked, to the two triumph herald bonnet card holders on the reception table. Debbie, the owner has a small collection of old cars that she is happy to talk to you about if you have the time. She is welcoming and very helpful. Unfortunately she was awaiting hip surgery while I was there so breakfast wasn’t an option but the ‘olde Boote ‘ pub doesn’t a very nice inexpensive breakfast and they seem to know that you’ve come from Debbie’s and welcome you in like part of a community. The house itself creeks and all the floors are uneven so mobility may be a slight issue but if you’ve made it to the top of the stairs, it shouldn’t be.personally I found it convent that when I went to the loo in the night I was guided to the bathroom by the slope of the floor. Road noise can be a bit of an issue but during the night it’s quiet.ear plugs are provided in a bowl in the bathroom. All in all as somewhere to sleep while visiting the area I would recommend fitzwarine house and Debbie and her very helpful friend and the pub with Paul and Rachel being so helpful. Hope the op goes well Debbie

Nice welcome from owner. Stairs are steep and irregular. We stayed on second floor. My metal frame bed was noisy and soft mattress. Room clean and tidy. Breakfast extra but go to pub next door for more choices/value. Unsuitable for those with access problems. Car park adjacent in corner of pub car park. My corner shower had high step in and was snug...

A real hidden jem in a small village with lots of facilities. Opposite the Castle and duck pond. Not far to lots of tourist hotspots and when you get back plenty of free parking. Its an old building with creaking floorboards but that odds to the charm.

Limited breakfast choices, but what was offered was fine. Three cats which was a bonus for me.

The property is very old, which makes it very quircky, which we loved. The views from the front bedroom are to die for overlooking the ruined castle and duck pond. The road is busy early morning and late afternoon, but that is to be expected and wasn't a problem. There are 2 pubs less than 2 minutes away for evening meals and it is very central to get around to various attractions. Debbie the lady who owns the property is lovely and very accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. There is lots to offer for breakfast, we enjoyed the breakfast baps, very different. We enjoyed out 4 night stay and would definately go back again, so hence our recommendation that this is a great place to stay.

Beautiful setting opposite the castle and duck pond. The owner was really friendly and couldn’t do enough for me. Unfortunately I’m a very light sleeper and it’s next to a busy main road, so I didn’t sleep well. I only noticed the ear plugs provided the next day. If you sleep well I would 100% recommended. There are local pubs in walking distance, fish and chip shop, plus a local store.

Clean & quiet in small village. Landlady friendly. It is an old property so floors creak in rooms & on landing but fine otherwise. On main road but ear plugs provided too. Will definitely stsy again. Whittington Castle right over the road also.

Lovely, clean characteristic room with large ensuite. Plenty of tea & coffee facilities. Bev was very attentive & helpful to make our stay perfect. Cooked breakfast not available due to Covid but bacon bap with yogurt, breakfast bar, fruit & orange juice was plentiful. Only negative was on a busy road but I'm not a good sleeper.

The owner was nice. BUT no wifi, squeaky bed and just cheap breakfast for £75 a night is too expensive.

Rooms a little dated, but comfortable and served the purpose. Shower cramped, a larger person would struggle to manoeuvre. Hoste very pleasant and helpful.
