Room is located in a rundown apartment building, unprofessionally furnished with IKEA furniture. Front desk shared with another hotel a few blocks away. PS, there is an oversupply of hotel rooms in Iceland. Do not book in advance - price goes down in summer.

The pictures misrepresent what is offered at this hotel. The amenities they list are not available at this hotel. Staff is not on premises. Their pictures feature a large pool with a waterslide and there is not a pool on site. It also lists a restaurant and cafe. Neither of those are on site. I messaged them about the pool and never received a response. It seems their amenities include everything available in the small town. The actual rooms were average. Be advised that guests must climb metal stairs outside to access rooms above the ground level floor. Stairs are uncovered and present a challenge for those with mobility issues.

The room at the Hildibrand Hotel was spacious, clean, and comfortable. While the shower was extremely small, it did have excellent water pressure. Be aware that this is a self-check-in hotel with no front desk staff on-site. That made it especially frustrating when we experienced problems with the room door lock. We sent several messages to management through the Expedia app but never received a response. Another major disappointment was that the hotel advertises two bars/lounges, a coffee shop/café, and a restaurant. We arrived around 4:30 p.m., and none of these amenities were open. There was no notice or explanation, so the advertised food and beverage options were unavailable during our stay. The room itself was very nice, but the lack of customer support, unavailable amenities, and poor communication significantly impacted our experience. The views are stunning!!!

We stayed two nights on our Ring road trip, and it was one of the best places we’ve stayed on the island. Very comfortable beds, spacious 2 bedroom suite, gorgeous view of the fyord and very convenient to a grocery store, coffee house and a walking path. Our kids loved the maritime museum we’ve found nearby and the short hike to the Easter cave. Overall, we had a great stay which allowed us to rest between the strenuous activities and enjoy the peace and quiet of this beautiful little town.

Contact less check in experience was nice. Room was clean. Only complaint was one of the mattresses needs to be replaced. Was sunken in and very uncomfortable. Other mattress appeared to be much newer.

Noisy nearby building construction workers

We arrived at 8:15pm. Nobody at the reception even if the check-in hours are until 10pm. Front door is closed. No check-in information on room number, key box provided prior to arrival or on site. Nobody answers to the phone number provided. Went by car to their other property, the cliff hotel, and same thing, Nobody at the reception, hotel and the reception are empty, no staff, nobody answers the phone. Tried to call hotels.com, they are not able to help as the management of the hotel is not answering the phone. Finally got someone on the phone by the 7th attempt and they gave us the room number and lock code without apologizing. No towels in the room, lock on the door does not work. Finally got someone to go over the Cliff hotel to send us towels. The employee apologized, said that several clients are complaining of the poor management of the hotel. Avoid booking this hotel at all costs. Would not book the Cliff hotel either, same inept management, no one at the reception or answering the phone.

This hotel is incredible! The prices are fantastic for what you get. I stayed in one of the apartments and the view is amazing, the town is quaint, and it’s very close to a beautiful hike. The staff was also very very friendly. I wish I had more time to explore, but everything was amazing!

Staff were very helpful and changed our room when we noted that one room had a dank smell to it. Lovely view of the fjord and waterfront.

Roomy for a family of four and had everything we needed to be comfortable. Great view as well. Very quiet.

The best shower of my life! Next to Kohler Spa, this was the best shower pressure and heat I’ve ever had! It looks so unassuming.

Friendly staff, snacks for the kids, pool near by. It would be nice if the hotel had meals available.

Great room overall with fully equipped kitchen, landry room and plenty of room for our family of 6, but the front door did not lock. Stunning views out of the living room and one of the bedrooms.
