This hotel is a beautiful old building in a lovely rural setting with some great original features.
However we were somewhat disappointed with the cleanliness of this hotel.
It is clear they are going through a slow renovation process, with a clear difference in quality between areas.
This hotel is a beautiful old building in a lovely rural setting with some great original features.
But sadly on arrival our room was not to the cleanliness we’d expect for a 4 star hotel at £150 a night. Dirt on the mirrors, mould throughout the shower, broken toilet seat and hairs all left in the bathroom. We requested a room change due to the state of the rooms cleanliness and sadly no options were available, but more disappointingly no one came to rectify this issue that day or any further days of our 4 night stay. The room was not cleaned at all during our stay, just a daily top up of tea/coffee.
Issues with cleanliness and attention to detail is sadly the fact for the rest of the hotel with the spa feeling tired and outdated and again dirty, glasses lipstick stained and abandoned communal rooms dusty with rubbish left lying around.
However the staff throughout were lovely and helpful and the breakfast had a good variety of options and catered to the individual needs.
With some improved attention to detail, updating and higher standards of cleaning this has the potential to be a wonderful stay but sadly due to the issues it was not worth the price.
