What a top hotel. Got a free upgrade at check in too. Small complimentary bottle of port in the room too. Food was amazing. 10/10.

Nice location. Some organisation issues. Particularly at breakfast. Lack of crockery/ server. Although young waiter tried his best.

Room very cold on arrival but the lady at reception turned up the great whilst having dinner. A lovely hotel but unfortunately I had a terrible sleep with people walking through the corridor at 2am and 3am - I could hear the floor board creaking. At 4am I called reception as I was disturbed by what sounded like hoovering and banging as if a hoover was hitting the floorboards. On check out I was not offered an apology or asked how my stay was. I would not go back I don’t think. Pillows also not comfortable. Staff in restaurants very accommodating

Lovely spacious room. We attended as wedding guests and stayed over. Great price and quality.

Excellent hotel which I used to use very frequently a decade or so ago when traveling on business. It was always excellent but since my last visit it has had a major extension and upgrade

Great Country Manor House

Lovely hotel, the gardens are beautiful. Room was great. This was our second visit, we came back because the food was amazing on our first trip but we were disappointed with our evening meals this time.

What beautiful place to stay. With lovely weather we had a really nice stay. I love being surrounded by greenery, so relaxing. The only downside for me, was the fact our room 'Executive double' was right by the main entrance to the rooms on the ground floor, so you didn't feel very private. I opened the curtains and there is the delivery man in his lorry. We would stay here again, but would not want to stay in that room again.

Surprised the hotel scores so high with ratings as the most uncomfortable bed ever.

This hotel was magnificent. The building, room, grounds, staff and food. I had booked Staindrop Lodge which was disgusting. I checked out within half an hour and booked Whitley Hall which was amazing. I contacted HOTELS.COM for a refund for Staindrop Lodge but they called the Manager and unbelievably took his word and refused me a refund. Wont be using HOTELS.COM again.

It was quite unpleasant having a room so close to the public toilets. The smell from the toilet blocks used in the urinals is still lingering in my nostrils. This was in an Executive Double Room in the Parker Wing.
