Superb location. Convenient parking. Warm and welcoming arrival at this charming historic property. Friendly host, comfortable and well appointed room with some quirky touches. Hearty breakfast rounded out our stay. Would love to visit again.

The pub is a very old building, but very well maintained despite all the challenges of owning a listed building. We received a friendly welcome when we arrived and were shown straight to our room, which was no 3. The room was very clean and like other reviewers we loved the quirkiness and character of the room. The ensuite shower room was a decent size with lovely big, fluffy bath sheets. It is an electric shower, but was as good as you would expect. Breakfast was delicious and we had the full English both days. It is 2 very nice sausages, 2 rashers of crispy bacon, mushrooms, fried egg, baked beans and cooked baby tomatoes which were on the vine and lovely. There is also plenty of toast and coffee. The lady who served us was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be staying here again!

Glad we stayed in the Golden Eagle, short walk to centre of Chester. The reviews were right, lovely stay, great breakfast, topped up filter coffee was a great touch, the sausages were very good quality. I would stay again, had everything you need and a pub downstairs With friendly welcoming staff. If you want a change from your typical hotel chain, give this place a go.

We had a great overnight stay. The room was as described—comfortable and clean, with a really comfy bed that gave us a great night’s sleep. Excellent central location, very friendly and helpful staff, and a fantastic breakfast to start the day. Would happily stay again!

WE had a brilliant short stay in Chester. We visited Liverpool by train and Nantwich by bus. The city centre and plenty of restaurants were all within a few minutes walk. The Golden Eagle was first class. The owner and staff couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. We are already thinking of another stay with them.

Few days away in Chester. The staff were welcoming and friendly, it is a pub so expect some noise. The rooms were clean and had everything needed for a short stay. Great location for all amenities, shops , bars and local history.

Lovely place to stay. Loved the record player in our room, good beer in the bar, friendly and obliging staff, and great continental breakfast. This is our second stay here and we hope to visit again.

Had a fabulous 2 night stay there for a friend’s birthday. The staff were friendly and helpful and excellent value for money. The room was very quaint and comfortable and the price included a fabulous cooked breakfast. Only minutes walk from town so perfect for exploring Chester. Overall a little gem.
