Check in was simple and welcoming. Room warm and tidy.

Room a bit tired. There was an Xmas party on at the same time and revellers were up partying until 3am. Very mousy outside my window with very little sleep.

Great welcome at check in, smooth process. We stayed in one of the four poster rooms (room one) which was stunning. High ceilings, light from the many windows, spotless and very spacious with a lovely roll top bath. We ate dinner in the orangery, where the menu was small but the food was good. Breakfast was hot and of a good standard. Would definitely stay again.

Business trip... Good room, good restaurant - might benefit from a better bar area...

Clean and great staff. Room does not have simple amenities like kleenex, hair conditioner, and we needed help getting the heat to work. Grounds are beautiful and lead to great walking paths, but not accessible to shops or convenient to get to from the train station. Car transport is needed

Stay was nice until my birthday. Booked on check in extending 1 day as the package with Universal Studios was restricted at the time. Front desk clerk put it in for Thur night instead of Wed. Causing me to have to check out amongst my birthday activities and spending hours to find an alternative. This resulted in my being late to activity bookings and pretty much ruined my birthday. Also scheduled my package dinner for Wed night birthday and pre-paid and did not get refund even though their error. Really disappointed as the stay started out well. All because the front desk clerk clicked the wrong date. I even said no issue if they were sold out I had plenty of time at check in to find alternative. But 3 days later to find out he put wrong date and no rooms available.

Excellent value. Fabulous, large and comfortable room. Just missing a plug for the bath. Highly recommend

Property is very outdated, certainly not a 4 star hotel. I would suggest it's a low 3 star at best. The whole property really needs a renovation. The building as you drive up to it looks lovely and I am sure it could be so nice if it were to be renovated.

Poor mobile phone and hotel WiFi coverage in rooms on edge of hotel. Receptionist overworked, not present enough at reception. Breakfast opens late at 07:00 midweek, should be 06:30 for business workers. Breakfast serving staff stroppy and demotivated.

Room was comfortable but tired, carpet needed replacing, bathroom needs tlc, new bath panel, soft close toilet seat etc. Toilet very noisy. Staff were great.

We stayed two nights to play golf and visit St Albans. We booked dinner, bed and breakfast. Food was good, drinks not over priced, staff very attentive. Bed very comfortable and golf course a challenge.

The outside of this hotel was the best part. Room outdated and bed broken. Terrible and would not recommend or return.

Really enjoyed our stay. Very nice welcome. lovely big clean room. So quiet and nice thick curtains for a dark room. Great service from the bar. Thank you very much for a relaxing break

Bed was comfy although something was loose as was a little squeaky when parking your backside at the foot of bed. Great setting, staff very friendly good choice of beverages and on a par with the prices at the local pub. Had biscuits last time we stayed in the room that was the only disappointment.
