Purchase the dinner and breakfast—excellent buffets and beautiful dining room. Hotel has extraordinary ocean view. No need to leave the property as it has 3 onsens, restaurants, and activities.

Nice resort to stay while we were at Atami. We stayed at Horizon wing which is renovated recently, very comfortable room with a nice view of the ocean. Facilities are great, there are three public baths, the one between two wings is new with breath taking view; the other two in comparison aren’t worth the time. Buffet dinner is awesome, so many varieties of food to choose from, for a moment I thought I was on a cruise ship.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. The location is amazing, and the outdoor onsen was truly exceptional — one of the best I’ve experienced. That alone almost made the stay worth it. However, the hotel itself felt like a giant cruise ship — and not in a good way. It’s very large and noticeably outdated. The room was nothing special, and the overall atmosphere lacked charm. Dinner was decent, but it reminded me of a Las Vegas buffet or something you’d find on a cruise — big, impersonal, and a bit old-school. If it weren’t for the incredible onsen, I’d probably give this place two stars. My advice: visit for the onsen, but consider staying elsewhere if you’re looking for a more updated and personal hotel experience.

Lovely view and onsen experience, mainly for locals not tourists which was excellent, but needs a refurb - feels like an 80's resort or cruise shop. Buffet breakfast and dinner was fine for one night but no variety for day 2-3 so got sick of fish and same menu every meal. Don't think locals stay more than 1 or 2 Max days and mainly come for lovely onsen.

This hotel has excellent facilities such as 3 onsens, indoor pool, arcade, 2 private baths, children's activities, and many more. The view of the ocean and caves are amazing. However, the buildings are old. There is a musty smell around. If they do a thorough renovation of this hotel, it would be quite luxurious.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the New Akao Hotel in Atami, and it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning ocean views and the hotel's incredible location perched along the coastline. The rooms are spacious, impeccably clean, and designed to maximize the breathtaking scenery—waking up to the sound of the waves and the sunrise over the water was truly magical. The onsen (hot springs) was a highlight, offering a serene and rejuvenating soak while overlooking the endless sea. The hospitality was outstanding. The staff was attentive, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The dining experience was equally impressive, with fresh, beautifully prepared Japanese cuisine that showcased local flavors. Beyond the hotel, Atami itself is a charming getaway with beautiful gardens, relaxing beaches, and rich cultural sites. The hotel's proximity to these attractions makes it an excellent base for exploring the area. Overall, the New Akao Hotel delivers an exceptional blend of luxury, relaxation, and authentic Japanese hospitality. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat with world-class views and service. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Everything was great, only the parking was quite a walk and costed ¥1000 a night.

Good service from all staff, food good and lovely sea views. Hotel was built 50 years ago and is showing its age. It felt like we had gone back in time but had good time nonetheless.

Grand old place in need of a big clean, but absolutely phenomenal experience. The staff were fantastic; friendly and helpful. The dining room and food stations were unbelievable. A pianist was playing during dinner. It was amazing. Nice hot Onsen too. One was outside overlooking the ocean. Very special. I loved that I could have the window open. The room was so spacious and the view was incredible.

The hotel is a remnant of the 80s. Rooms are very dated and even some areas feel spooky.
