Couldn’t have wished for a nicer stay. Perfect location to travel into London with frequent trains from Harpenden station. The room was lovely and spacious. The bathroom was luxurious. Breakfast was excellent with great choice and service. Highly recommend.

the room was an excellent size as well as the bathroom, just a couple of things let it down was torn net curtain in the bedroom, the mastic around the shower needs attention as well as the painted wardrobe. overall the stay was excellent and the breakfast was well presented and it was great value for money

Nice enough place with a lot of character, but rather pricey for what they offer, and the lack of parking is a serious problem for overnight stays. A nearby car park had machines that weren't working (and a fraudulant parking app that forced me to cancel my debit card), I had to find places to park on the street and move the car around, etc. Not exactly a relaxing expeience

No parking was a real problem was told to park on high street but no spaces took three quarters of hour to find a spot and late for dinner engagement that was arranged for me.

Ok, convenient location. Needs some maintenance to the room. Not sure i really recieved the room i paid for. Noisy due to pub regulars etc on fri night but i knew this would be a problem.

Booked through Expedia and it clearly showed that the property provides a free breakfast but on arrival we were told we had to pay extra for breakfast.

Hotel/Pub very nice - staff super friendly. Would stay again when in Harpenden for sure. That said Only issues I had - Parking. Harpenden in general is awful and there isn't much in the way of long term parking near the hotel that I could find. Also when I checked in - I hadn't realised I paid vis Hotes.com and ended up paying again at the hotel - still trying to sort out but that is more down to me keep missing the manager - they have been helpful.

Staff were nice, room was ok, but i was at the front of the building with a very busy road, noisy all night with single pane glass windows. Also don't plan on eating on a Monday, they don't do food then.

The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed and huge bath. Staff kindly let me check in early as I was going to a local function. The pub itself looked very nice as well. My room looked out over the garden and it was a summer evening so the staff told me it might be a little noisy until closing time. But I didn't find it noisy and was then very quiet during the night. A very nice place to stay but quite expensive.

Needed a shower after a long day of hiking only to find out the room had no hot water. There was no telephone in the room so went back down to report the issue. The manager came up to check and confirmed no hot water in all the rooms but all should be ok in 20 minutes. That never happened. Ended up having a cold shower. Resulted to boiling water 5 kettle of water the next morning as a makeshift. Not pleased with the manager’s attitude either. Will definitely not use again. If you must use the hotel ask for room at the back. Street side noisy with traffic and people leaving the pub.

The bedrooms were well decorated and comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and efficient, and the manager/owner was very accommodating to our groups requests. Only downside is no car park, but you can park for free a couple of mins walk away and wasn't really an issue for us

The noise in this hotel is horrendous it goes on til 1am slightly toned down between 12-1am had the tv on loud but could still be heard over that had to buy earplugs but i could still hear the noise from below and it starts again at 11am when the pub opens. If you like a cuppa take your own only 1 teabag and 1 sachet of coffee each and the milk is in a fridge down the hallway which is very inconvenient. It is a lovely room and comfy bed and good location for town but unfortunately the noise far outways all of this. At £110 per night and NO breakfast not value for money.

I booked 3 nights here, I come to this town regularly as my son lives locally. This is the nearest place with accommodation to where he lives so was looking forward to the three night stay. It was most definitely NOT worth the £120 a night. No parking and no breakfast included in that. The first room I was given was dirty, cobwebs everywhere, cup rings still on the bedside table, dirty floor in the bathroom, black mould on the windows and really dirty curtains at the window, so I went to see the staff, thankfully they moved me and the young lady was lovely about it. I definitely expected more for the price. I moved to another room, it was better, beautifully put together, with a bath in the bedroom, but not great. I could see that a lot of effort has been put into the fixtures and fittings in these rooms but it’s sadly lacking some major TLC. It could be amazing. I only stayed for two nights not the three that I’d paid for, I just left, I didn’t want to stay another night. The music noise from the pub below is quite loud too, (but it was turned off at 11pm). I would consider that if you plan to stay here. My stay was midweek in January so cannot imagine the weekend in the summer. I had booked to stay here again in April, this has now been cancelled. I will go back to where I have stayed before, 3 miles out of town but guaranteed to be clean.
