Friendly staff, nice room spoiled by mould in the shower.

Check in was great, very friendly, advised about the parking situation which wasn't ideal so ended up staying in the long stay. Room was very compact and would benefit from losing the cushions. Clean and comfortable with very nice bathroom. Didn't particularly bother us but there was very loud music from the pub playing until midnight on the Saturday. Restaurant was OK, expensive for ok food. Chunky chips were very under, fed that back to staff who smiled and said would relay to the kitchen. Overall, was reasonable value for money except for the Restaurant and the drinks were london prices.

Great hotel, great location, and even better staff - what a tremendous stay. If I ever come back to Helmsley, I would rebook here without a thought.

Travelling solo for Ramblers purposes for 2 nights, it was a pleasure staying here, luxury accommodation, all those nice little extras in the rooms, like a big TV, Nespresso coffee maker, complementary bottles of water, biscuits etc. Things you miss a lot nowadays when you stay in budget big chain hotels. The staff were really excellent. First night turned out to be the World Cup semi final, England v Argentina and they even reserved a table for me in the garden and watching the match on a huge screen with all the locals was a real pleasurable experience. Food faultless, choice of beers superb.

We had an excellent stay in the hotel right from our arrival staff were able to help and explain about parking etc. We had an absolutely fantastic room 33 with our own outdoor space to enjoy a drink or a coffee / tea in the morning. Large bed was amazing after our day driving and the beautiful roll top bath with plenty of hot water. The restaurant and bar area are friendly spacious with an excellent selection of food options. A fantastic stay we will definitely return to this hotel and have no problem with recommending a stay at this hotel to anyone.

A good location with car parking at the back. Comfy beds, although our room was a bit small. If we had have been staying more than one night we would have wanted a bigger room. The food for breakfast and dinner was of good quality and the staff were very friendly. A large beer garden at the rear and a large screen to watch the football on.

Room was very clean. Comfy bed. Only downside was car parking. We parked near the castle but used the short stay opposite to drop our bags off.

We had a lovely room which was clean with really nice decor and amenities. The bathroom was nice and big and the little extras were appreciated. The breakfast was nice with good choices and we also ate there on two evening. The menu was varied and the food was good.

All aspects of the food and drinks rooms and bars were very good.

Such a friendly homely place to stay. The village itself is beautiful with plenty of individual shops, the people are friendly The food at the Feathers is excellent, good choice and perfectly cooked. We will be going back soon for our umpteen visit

Stayed with my daughter in a twin room. Really comfy beds. Room looked good, cosy and was clean. Nice toiletries in the bathroom and liked the addition of a duck for my daughter’s bath. Great breakfast! Staff friendly. We ate dinner in the pub too and that was lovely. All in all a great stay and we’d recommend.

All the staff we spoke to were really friendly and helpful, the 2 ladies who cleaned our room were lovely and the room was immaculate

Fresh breakfast foods. Room was invitingly clean. Staff very helpful. Bar area - seating needs a clean.
