Summary - great location, fantatstic room, eat somewhere else. We had a lovely room overlooking the beach. It was warm and comfortable. Reception staff were lovely. I would not recommend eating here. The food is less than average - not even the basics right. Awful chips, over zapped baked potato, both meals swimming in shop bought coleslaw and salad full of massive chunks of raw onion. The packed lunch looked like it had been made in the dark and my apple was rotten. Packet grated cheese covered in cornstarch for cooking just fell out, along with last night's salad with those big bits of raw onion. Restaurant staff not nearly as friendly as reception. Go to Whitehaven for supper!

The hotel was basically ok, clean but slightly run down. We paid for an upgraded room which turned out to be over the bar and by the car park so we were disturbed late night and early morning. The main issue was the very rude manager. On arrival he was basically mocking someone in front of for not knowing how to use the heating in the room which wasn't actually working. Then the following day we ordered a takeaway to eat by the sea or in our room (as encouraged by the hotel). While waiting for delivery we got drinks from the bar. The takeaway arrived, we collected it from the driver outside. We returned to finish our drinks and before we sat down the same manager shouted across the room "You can't eat that in here" in front of everyone. We hadn't attempted to open the food, we weren't going to eat it there and as it turned out we were allowed to eat it there if we had! We won't be returning if that is how the management think it's ok to treat customers. £200 for a noisy room and a rude manager. To be fair, all other staff members were helpful and friendly.

Comfy beds, clean room only fault was breakfast as we didn't get what we ordered and when we said it wasn't what we ordered it was like tough eat it or dont eat it, we wasn't the only people that had this problem that day,

Was an older style hotel staff were friendly enough but place could do with a lick of paint. Food was ok served in the bar area. My room looked out over a roof with two boiler vents so window handle had been removed (for good reason as one does not want to be breathing those fumes even if it is mostly steam) but meant no fresh air. bed was comfy and room was spacious enough.

On a room only deal. Pet friendly large ground floor room with a seating area and two extra beds. Room looked newly refurbished and was spotless throughout. Definitely recommend these rooms although they are a little more expensive. Staff very helpful and food in the bar was lovely. .

Room was reasonable, hotel facilities lacking, only option for water was to purchase small bottles at £2 each, no ability to get a hot drink after dinner time as they switch of machines. Stayed 2 nights but no room cleaning so no replenishment of essentials e.g. toilet roll. Beautiful location and would likely stay again due to this but only due to location so close to beach.

Looks rundown and outdated. Very noisy in general as a result of lack of insulation and hotel guests. It didn’t help that our room was right above the entrance where most had their cigarettes and a generally yarn or argument.

The hotel is showing its age, but is quite clean. Room was good but basic, the room heat control was difficult, had to contact the front desk where they promptly turned on the electricricity. The room got cold at night and I tried to get the heat to work with no success, but then at 05:20 the heat came on magically. I assume they have the heat control on timer to save energy. The very large unheated outdoor pool was good but swimming would be difficult with all the large waves.
