Beautiful property with such character and distinct features. Can understand why so many people have so many functions here (weddings/proms/birthdays etc.) Lovely old building with high ceilings and well designed interior but improvements needed in the rooms or at least the one we stayed in. Was not too keen on wooden flooring, lack of hanging space and poor water pressure and a loose toilet handle which the staff are aware off and have assured no major incidents should occur. Tea tray is as very difficult to use due to being low down and no table for it to be placed on top of. Plenty of parking and breakfast was delicious, could not fault the food and the staff. We’re not ones to complain but staff did empathise and were able to accommodate where possible which was really lovely. If you are in the area and would like to have a night or two to unwind we would definitely recommend !!!

lovely hotel, very grand and great food at a reasonable price

A very nice place to stay. The room was big and the hotel sat in nice grounds. The meal I had was also fantastic (the lamb).

Freshly cooked breakfast, staff very friendly and helpful, room very clean and comfortable.

Spacious and very clean room. It was very quiet in general so easy to get a good night's sleep. Food in the restaurant exceeded my expectations. All the staff were welcoming and friendly. Plenty of parking. All in all it was just perfect.

Everything was fantastic, just a little problem with the shower water tap.

Check-in was straight forward. Staff were friendly. Food at evening dinner and breakfast was really good.

Staff are really approachable, we had issues with our room, three people sharing a room and only set up for two of us. This was resolved by taking the duvet from a spare room. We didnt book in until late afternoon. We couldnt get the new shower to work. Not sure what the issue was. Will stay at the hotel next year & find out how to use thr shower!

Beautiful building. Great parking. Downstairs rooms were beautiful. Breakfast was great. Staff could not have been any nicer. Many, many positives. However. Our room (6), which was a quadruple room, had a few issues. The beds were the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced. The windows were very dirty and painted shut. The bathroom needs a complete upgrade. Having said that - if we were in the area would we stay there again? Absolutely. Just please get new beds!

Nothing wrong with hotel, staff or service etc. My issue was I booked a superior room at £120 based on the image of the shown on Hotels.com; my room was in fact the exact one noted at £92 as a standard double room. Nothing superior about it, en suite was tiny, shower was very poor.

Located in a beautiful area all around green fields. We really enjoyed our stay there. Breakfast and servie was good.

All ok a bit dated , food was plain but again OK Shower was not good at all But old hotels are all the same NO Power

An attractive country house in typical picturesque Cumbrian surroundings. Staff were friendly and attentive, breakfast was tasty and generous. Bedroom and bathroom decor were tired and dated; in need of a refit & refresh, though fairly clean. I slept fairly well though was disturbed by bright security lights just below the window, ?chiller units running all night and then erroneous whistling and humming in the corridor from 0600.

Such a beautiful property! We loved the picturesque surroundings, the quiet and peaceful environment, and everyone was very friendly!
