Room was spacious, clean and the en suite adequate. We ate an evening meal and the menu was varied, the food tasty. The bar has a warm atmosphere. All staff were friendly and helpful. The morning staff went out of their way to make us feel relaxed and special. They were chatty, helpful and efficient. Special thanks to them. Overall, our stay was comfortable and we would definitely return. The only negative is that everything looks a little tired and in need of some “tweaking”. Otherwise, a very pleasant stay.

Great little town to use as a stopover heading North or South on A1. Staff were great, breakfast was good also. Rooms are a little basic but clean and comfortable enough along with bathroom. TV signal was poor and reception kept tripping out. Otherwise fine.

When we arrived just after 2pm it was like stepping onto the Marie Celeste. We finally found a few customers who told us that only member of staff doing front of house was getting ice cream for their daughter. When she appeared we asked about food but was told that the kitchen closed at 2 and that we would need to go out if we were hungry. Checking us in, she was very pleasant but hadn’t read my email sent a couple of days before to say we were bringing a dog which didn’t smack of efficiency. The stairs are steep and narrow and would not suit anyone with mobility issues or even pass current building regulations. The room was clean but cold and the heater, although apparently on, gave out no heat. The bedside lamp didn’t work although I was later told that it was just a loose connection; great if it gives you a shock! Nor did the light over the mirror in the bathroom. We ate in the bar in the evening when we were served by a very helpful young lady who seemed to be doing her very best in spite of having worked there for a week. The food was not great. When we went to our room the batteries in the remote were not working so we had to go downstairs and ask for new ones. For breakfast in the morning, again we had to go in search of staff. The lady was delightful and helpful and made a very good breakfast but she was having to juggle with housekeeping as well. I know staff are costly when not busy but might I suggest a minimum of 2 per shift to provide any kind of service.

Friendly welcoming staff, with a larger than expected room. The food was nice. It was kareoke night which was a bit of a shame, as it went on past half 11 and we had to ask when it would finish.

Our company has used this hotel at least 15 times over the past 18 months and have never had cause to complain, however, during the latest stay, it sounded as though an all night party was going on upstairs with smoke alarms constantly ringing and noise so loud it sounded like a raid! Our team members are located here ready for training courses in the morning so they are bright and fresh. This latest stay did not offer this at all. He didn't get to sleep until 04.30am. When my colleague brought this to the attention of the manager, they were not very helpful, understanding or apologetic. Sadly this will now make us think twice about using this provider in the future.

The staff were very efficient, welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts were excellent and the evening meals were also very good. The bed was very comfortable and the room nicely decorated. Sorry to mention the things that weren’t so good - Our room was cold even with the remote controlled radiator. The electric shower in the bathroom gave about 30 seconds of warmish water and then reverted to tepid.

This is a pub with rooms above it , in an old building , steep staircase, nowhere to sit and work with a laptop . Heating took a lot of attention to come on. Really only suitable for an overnight stay. Staff are attentive, breakfast is very good , the pub is great with satellite football on in two bars. Not that suitable for work travellers.

3* room, 5* food and service! The room was okay - the bed was really comfy but the walls were paper-thin and the bathroom was chilly. However, the food in the restaurant and breakfast were delicious and the service from the whole team was fantastic.

The staff here are lovely, I had a warm welcome from Zorro the dog. Rahol and the housekeeping ladies Nat and Hayley couldnt do enough to make my stay the best. The little issues that I encountered were resolved efficiantly and with genuine care by those 3 . Sunday roast was the best Ive had in a long time, I just wish I had more time here to sample more of the menu. I thought that the visitor's guide books in the bedrooms were a nice touch. Its clear that this family business is doing its best to update the place and improve all aspects of services provided. The forest Lodge will surely continue to evolve positively under this sort of attentive management... You couldnt find a better place to stay if you are looking to access Sherwood Forest and have a bit of a retreat, right opposite the Church where Robin Hood and Maid Marian were supposedly married. Edwinstowe is a quaint little village not too far from the City of Nottingham. Thankyou to all of the team for a wonderful 2 nights with you.
