The property has no air conditioning or elevators. Not the best to travel with large suitcases which we had and had to carry them up several fly of stairs. The other thing was we were here during the heatwave and were given a fan which didn’t help. So our room felt like a sauna. But the staffs were nice and helpful. If you are travelling on budget with a backpack style of travelling you should be fine.

Excellent location, however the rooms are lack of A/C Hotel provides fans for cooling but most probably they will not be sufficient for summer hot days

Great location and clean room! Historic building, so expect stairs and a little age. Overall, centrally located and clean launch point to explore Vieux Lyon and Presquille.

Decent room, very comfy bed. Basic but clean. Bathroom was clean, shower was hot and powerful. Quiet location on a nice square with a few bars, very central and near to the river / old town funicular. Staff were adorable. Breakfast was very carb-heavy but amazing bread. Would visit again for a solid budget stay in a great location.

The hotel is very well located in walking distance to sights , shops and restaurants. It is very clean but they need a new carpet in the hallways which look a little worn compared to the rooms and reception ( really not a problem). Apart from the great location, the staff is exceptional. They were friendly, kind and helpful ( the airline lost my luggage). I would highly recommend the hotel.

We loved our stay at Hotel du Theatre! Reception staff Esther and Louis were wonderful, breakfast just what we needed, location was excellent and we would definitely recommend this hotel. Stairs not a problem for us as we only carried our luggage down. Merci beaucoup de La part de deluxe canadiens!

Was a pressure to stay here room was clean, good size bathroom, really comfy bed, in a good location, staff where friendly and well coming, there is alot of stairs so if you don't mind that I would recommend the stay, I will be staying here again for sure.

Great staff, location, and clean rooms

The hotel is 3 floors above the ground so you will need to bring your luggage up. It is a very very basic hotel that is very outdated. However, it was clean, reception staff was very nice and helpful. Good quality for the money. But if there is price comparable hotel with normall ground floor checkin on the street go for another one. I was a mom with two girls and the entrance os on the side street with 3 flights of stairs so not very safe and convienient.

A clean warm room in an ideal location at a budget price. I am shocked how, given you cannot read anything about this hotel without knowing there is no lift, people still complain. The hotel is on the third floor, the steps are shallow and the friendly staff will carry your bags. We are in our 80s but the lack of a lift certainly didn’t spoil our stay We would go back

The photos are not accurate. The walk up covers holes and the floors are very uneven. I have video and photos of a dirty shower and floors in our room. The handout for WiFi info is a list of hopeful log ins. I told the receptionist we wanted to checkout due to these issues and Expedia called directly to the hotel. When trying to contact the owner, Mr. Sterckx, as I was told, relayed through the receptionist that there would be no refund for the 2 remaining days. He promised a call to me directly which didn’t happen. I understand the no cancellation rule but not providing clean and safe environments isn’t a fair deal.
