The Farmhouse Lodge is actually a few separate buildings. We stayed in Guesthouse Room #5 with our own private bathroom, which was huge. There are no staff members on the property so we followed a series of signs to go to the building where the keys were kept for “check-in.” An email in advance with instructions and what to expect would have been helpful. Our room was plenty big with a little seating area but there was an odd clicking noise from one corner over the bed and what looked like mold on the ceiling. There was no landline in the room so when we had a problem with the toilet, it took us a few minutes to get in touch with someone who could take care of it. They were very responsive and while we went to dinner in town, they fixed it. There wasn’t a refrigerator in our room but it was cold enough that night to keep our Black Crust Pizza leftovers in the car. It looked like there was a common area for breakfast but we decided to go straight to the black sand beaches and lighthouse and had brunch at Faxi Bakery.

This is a great little place to stay and not have to travel to see the northern lights. I stayed in one of the bungalows (the called it the chicken houses). Stay was comfortable, it is a small space so a bit crowded and the ceilings were short and sloped in so it made taking a shower a little challenging but still doable. The only turnoff for me was the sink was leaking from the drain pipe as well as one of the water lines going into the sink and the staff's response was to bring me towels. Luckily it wasn't a bad leak but you can tell the place suffers from bad plumbing issues with lots of water damage along the floor boards.

Nice and clean. Room is well cared for. Instructions on taking out room trash at checkout are unclear, and we couldn’t find a dumpster to dispose of trash. Otherwise great experience.

The lodge is in a great dark area for viewing the Northern Lights. Great place to stay. Very quiet. I highly recommend saying that this lodge.

AVOID IN WINTER if you want to use the facilities such as kitchen etc. The kitchen is in a separate building from the rooms which was not made clear when booking. It is a huge kitchen but only two tiny heaters worked so it was baltic. Meant we had to go out for tea which we weren’t planning on doing so messed up ours plans. Nice room tho

Check in was super easy, and the directions given to guide us to reception & to the guesthouse were very helpful to have. A spacious room with a little seating area and a large bathroom. There is no fridge in the room itself, but there is a large shared kitchen in the building that you can put your things in and hang out with some other guests who are travelling the country. We had a comfortable stay here!

This turned out to be one of our best days. We did a very basic room with a shared bath, which I was nervous about, but I have to stay everything was clean. We never had to wait for the bathroom. Parking was easy and never a problem. The morning breakfast was fantastic. I could not have asked for anything better. There was fresh fruit, lovely meats, and cheese, different yogurt, and bread and a wonderful station to make your own waffles. The only thing that was even slightly negative is our second morning there we came out of our room for breakfast and it was already packed up. They said that they sent out an email to see who wanted breakfast but I never received that email, so that was kind of disappointing.

We stayed in the Cowhouse and the rooms are very nice. Comfortable beds, good size and nice bathrooms.

We got there very late instruction to checking very simple, the place was clean and comfy.

We stayed at Farmhouse Lodge’s Chicken house for 2 days before Christmas and absolutely loved it. The Chicken house has everything- fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and bathroom. The location is wonderful since you can go and see several waterfalls and black sands beaches near by. Highly recommend to anyone who likes to explore that area of Iceland.

I’ve stayed in similar cabins in Iceland, and this one was not as immaculate. Great proximity to black sand beach. Property was easy to locate while driving in the dark.

Very cute studio and nice staff. Also have a good sunset viewing experience at the door.
