The Bocardo was boarded up and not taking guests despite the fact that it’s still taking reservations here on Expedia. Without disclosing that to potential guests, they send you to a sister property across the street to the George Street Hotel and say it’s an upgrade which it’s not. The entrance to the George street is a small door which is next to a boarded up storefront. When we arrived we thought it was a joke. But the George Street didn’t turn out terrible it was okay—not worth what we paid for it. We had flown from the us, it was pouring rain and we had no where else to go.

Pros - Very clean, air con excellent, staff superb and very central indeed! Lovely toiletries provided. Cons - Can hear outside noise but this was expected being so central and in a busy high street. Shower was very powerful and filled tray but it didn't cause an issue for us. Overall a good stay at this hotel.

Great location. Beautiful and comfortable room, if simple. Unobtrusive housekeeping. Minor issue with check-in but staff very helpful otherwise. Am definitely going to try and stay here again in future. Great value.

This is not a 3 star hotel as advertised, but rather a 1 star hotel with very limited/poor facilities. It is centrally located, but very noisy, as it is near bars and night clubs. It was very loud and noisy until 3-4 am.

Excellent service, helpful staff, comfortable bed, close to everything in Central Oxford. You can walk to the train station with a roller in ten minutes. All of these things at a great price! Bravo!

Great central location. Room was clean and there was plenty of coffee and tea. The room was very hot and stuffy even though it wasn’t that hot and the windows only opens about 10 cm, but one wouldn’t stay open. We had to have the air con on all night. Also had a lot of noise from the theatre as they broke up the set abd loaded it onto a lorry at 1.00 am abd then noise from the refuse bin sprague place from about 5 am. We didn’t sleep well.

We were so happy with our hotel room at the Bocardo which is on George Street so nice and central to everything in Oxford. We did a lot of sight seeing and tourist activities and everything was only a few minutes walk away. The reception staff also gave us a map and marked out our locations for us on it which was really helpful. Our room was nice and spacious with big windows that opened and also had effective curtains that blocked out the light. As an added bonus the room also had air conditioning which can be rare in the UK. We were so comfortable there and the staff were lovely and so kind. We would highly recommend the Bocardo to anyone staying in Oxford.

Friendly staff very clean room bed was so comfortable air conditioning heating and was perfect for Theatres especially New Theatre lots of restaurants and public houses and cafes near by and very near bus station,the Hotel would not be suitable for those with mobility issues or wheelchair users but overall a lovely clean restful place to stay will stay again

A great place in central Oxford. Very comfy bedding, good wifi, and great location right in the center, a little less than 10 minutes walk from the train station.

Brilliant experience. Bocardo showed excellent service throughout, clean room, friendly staff and thorough housekeeping. Highly recommended.

Nice clean room in a convenient location. Close to various city noises (I think there was a giant trash compaction nearby) that banged on past midnight and started again around 6am. May also have to contend with noisy students carousing very late (like 2:30am). Key stopped working early despite reassurance it wouldn't (but was fixed quickly). Desk doesn't always have a person but they will show up within 1-2 mins on call. Staff are super-friendly. Overall would consider staying again but be prepared for sleep being disrupted.

All fine with the place in terms of location, cleanliness, facilities and staff courtesy. Minor points: No on site reception a bit annoying necessitating use of intercom and a lengthy wait for someone to attend when needed. TV remote missing from room. Street noise excessive all night long. My first floor front of building room should have had double glazing at least. I checked out after one night.
