The hotel is situated in a good location, located in the popular suburb of Surry Hills, but the hotel itself leaves a lot to be desired. The hotel has two entrances, with the reception bizarrely located on a very small desk at the back of the hotel. The front entrance is right next to two ‘Master’ rooms, one of which we stayed in. This entrance is meant to only be used is sociable hours, but guests were using it all through the night, and it is not a quiet door! These two rooms are at street level, so the door and the passers by combined kept us up through the night. The pillows on the bed are like pancakes, and the shower gel/shampoo had ridiculously frustrating dispensers and awfully scented peppermint smell. The hotel runs a G&T night every night from 4-6, and is bigged up by the receptionists, but it is literally just a cart with a few options of tonic, that no one participates in. Seems very gimmicky.

We stayed at the Crystalbrook Albion because it was recommended on Michelin Guide, but it did not meet our expectations. The hotel itself was cool and the room was updated, but I would highly recommend staying far away from the “Cosy” room. It’s advertised as a room that can sleep two, but that is a stretch at best. No closet space, super limited hangers for dresses or dress shirts, and no walking space in the room. You’ll find yourself living on top of each other if you’re traveling with two. The small room booking was likely our fault, but here’s more details on where the property itself let us down: - Extremely humid rooms. We were traveling in March when the summer temps weren’t even at their peak, but we still found our room to be humid. We had the cool air cranked down to 20 Celsius at night and would still wake up to a humid room and wet clothes. - Drain flies were everywhere. We had them in our room and saw them all over the lobby. - The walls are paper thin. The hotel advertises that the rooms are quiet, but the noise from the hallway and from the room next to us was very loud compared to others properties we’ve stayed at. This kept us up at night and woke us up early in the morning. - The spout on the sink in our room didn’t fit the sink, so we had trouble keeping water in the sink. The spout was too large for the small sink. - The lights on the safe in our room wouldn’t stop blinking all night. Staff was amazing and very accommodating! They were a 5 star crew!

The hotel is in a great lication. The staff are great. The honesty bar is a great addition to the experience. However our room was not really up to luxury standards. The room needs places to put luggage. No luggage stands. One small drawer makes it awkward. Also it smelled like damp washcloth unless we left the windows open. They did remove the smelly pillowcases but it dudnt get rid of sour smell. The rooftop needs better furniture. The wire seats are not comfortable and things have rusted which makes it feel less enjoyable. For the price its not up to standards. Still a nice stay.

Charming boutique hotel. Really interesting decor in an old convent in the heart of Surry Hills. Will happily return next time we’re in Sydney

The room was spacious and welcoming. We were given an upgraded room, which further enhanced our overnight stay. The check in staff were helpful and assisted us with our questions. It made for a relaxing stay!

Crystalbrook is perfectly situated in Surry Hills. It’s perfect to travel throughout Sydney, with many transport options. But there’s also a great restaurant and bar scene nearby. The rooms are cleaned and well kept, and the staff is very friendly. Great stay overall!

The Crystalbrook Albion is a lovely, individual, informal and very comfortable hotel. Situated in Surry Hills it is very conveniently situated for the CBD, and benefits from excellent neighbourhood dining. The staff are aall super nice, friendly and helpful and really made us feel at home.
