The hotel itself (hallways) is a bit like a travelodge but the room we stayed in, 911, was really clean and the bed was really comfy. It was quite warm though so not sure what it would be like in summer.

The room was very warm even though not a hot day outside. There was air conditioning in the corridors but not the room. I received an email during the day saying that I would receive an upgrade to a suite due to the lift being out of action however when I checked in I was told that I couldn't have an upgrade even when I complained about the room being too hot. Apparently my suite had been given to somebody else. Also when we went for dinner at 8.15 we were told that the kitchen had closed early so that the grilles/canopies could be cleaned. We were not told that we needed to eat earlier due to this when we checked in. We were offered a dessert only! I work in the restaurant business and all maintenance of this kind is planned out of hours so as to not disrupt the customer experience. This should have been the case here. There were still people in the restaurant eating. They should have at least waited to do the work until the service had finished. Apart from that poor experience the rooms were nice,

Elevator was not working. Couldn’t figure out how to close the balcony door - there was no one to ask and no phone in the room to call front desk. Front desk was in a different hotel

Our first night was disappointing as the room had no a/c and the corridor was very hot outside. There was no room to move to. 2nd night we were moved to a cooler room after needing to complain. It was a shame because otherwise it would have been an excellent room in an excellent location. As the room had several fans i cannot believe it was a one off occasion.

The room was extremely hot. I had been offered an upgrade to their hotel across the road during the day before my check in due to the lift being out of action but when I checked in the lift was working so my upgrade was removed. When I mentioned about the room being extremely hot I was offered a fan and when i mentioned about the upgrade I had been offered and accepted I was told that I could no longer have it.

Lovely place to stay, got plenty of fore warning that their lift was down. Comfy bed with extra pillows. Everything was clean and fresh. Right on the high street so very convenient

Basic but clean and comfortable and had all we needed for a one night stay. Balcony was a bonus.

I did not like the noise of the airco next to my room wih balcony. I did not like how hot and stuffy the room was

Room was fine. Bathroom however.. Revolting dust falling out of bathroom extractor. Shower door broken and shower head broken. No aircon so either suffocate or get to lie awake most of the night listening to the noise from Colchester’s many drunks.

Liked to just go to the room quickly and it happened

The hotel room was okay but the bedhesd had a hole in it . The television didn't work . We were in a room that was on the main street which was very noisy

Very good room and loved it being in centre of town . Staff were very accommodating I asked for sheets for sofa bed and they arrived in 5 minutes

Great room on the corner giving a range of views onto the high street and beyond. Central location was perfect for my stay.

This hotel is an annex of the George hotel with nice rooms good showers and great location . We were in room 706 which being on the High Street side was noisy with the window open due to the warm temperatures and lack of AC. The TV was in danger of falling off the wall. That being said it was a good value stay although a walk over the road for breakfast was fine for us due to the great weather but would have been less desirable in the wet

Nice clean rooms . Perfect location for the town centre and castle venue . We went to a concert. Downside . No climate control rooms were hot so windows open .. traffic and public noise. Nice balconies. No actual hotel facilities as it is an annex of the George hotel across the street.

Room was clean, tidy, functional and had sufficient features. The balcony was a great addition. The view over the town was super. It overlooks the street so accept there will be town noise on a Friday./Saturday night. Does mean it is superbly situated for city exploits. Only negative was parking. It was a busy weekend and the assigned car-park had only once space.
