The Santander ferry arrived 2 hours late - meaning we missed the 8pm checkin at the hotel. No matter - as we’d emailed Hector, who had a plan B and we were easily able to get the keys.
We stayed in the family room, which was two good-sized bedrooms -and a bathroom - accessed through one front door. Perfect!
Decent continental breakfast with friendly service in a garden room the next morning. The coffee was great and the kids loved their not chocolates.
There are stunning views over the hills from the windows. The inn is properly rural. We woke to the sound of cockerels crowing. But it being Spain, they were kind enough to wait till 8am.
The villlage of Vispieres has a couple of bars, but there isn’t a huge amount going on. It’s about 2k to the beautiful,if frantic, Santillana del Mar, which is on the pilgrim trail. We went the other way - to Puente San Miguel - for dinners out.
The inn is very close to the Altamira caves and about 7k from the beach at Suances. Recommended!
