Trying to find a venue for a celebration of life event following a funeral is not easy, especially when you are not local. Having seen a number of venues in the area, once we happened upon The Ship and the kind owner, we knew we had found the perfect place. We had the place to ourselves (hired specifically). They provided a good buffet, but more importantly was the wonderful staff who treated you with such loveliness you felt you were a regular. At such a difficult and challenging time, the staff at this venue were beyond wonderful. My family and I thank all of you for making the occasion so special and for helping us so much. Did not stay but definitely would if we lived further away. At long last a really really dog friendly place to eat and drink. Water and treats brought for our dog and even a bed to lay in which as she is elderly was really appreciated. The manager is so friendly and loves dogs and the chef is amazing. My husband had the gammon steak and said it was the best he had ever had. If you hate dogs then this is not the place for you, but for us it was a real treat not to have kids running around screaming and throwing food on the floor while their parents totally ignore their bad behaviour. We will definitely be back

What a fantastic pub! Great food, service and atmosphere. Our first time but will certainly go back. My husband ordered half rack of ribs and I had a quarter. They were so tender, came with a small leaf salad and fries. Absolutely delicious! It was quantity with the ribs but for it was also pure QUALITY 👍 Well done and thank you x

Met a friend half way between our homes and it was totally the best place to meet. 3 dogs were welcomed, not just tolerated as is often the case and given water and we were handed treats for them. The lunch menu was not huge but varied however full menu was also available. The food was lovely! All tastes catered for and even when I thought there was a problem with my meal it was handled courteously. There was no issue just my own ignorance at what saffron looked like! Everything tasted completely fresh with quality ingredients. Desserts were especially good! Really nice staff. Definitely worth a visit.

Food was lovely and great service. We were disappointed to be asked to reselect a new meal despite giving 7 days notice. Also very limited sweets. However everything we had was beautifully cooked and presented.
