It seems this hotel hasn't been updated since the 1960s. The carpets were worn and discolored; frankly, we were scared of catching a skin disease if we walked barefoot. With no disposable slippers provided, we wore socks the entire time. A "we don't care" response twice to my message the day before check-in should have been my first clue. Most importantly, if you have children, do not book this hotel for their safety/life. The windows were disgusting, the paint was chipped, and horrifically, they wouldn't close or lock. With no safety rails, my 3-year-old could have easily fallen out. We got absolutely no sleep because we were terrified. Furthermore, the bathroom had an old internal barrel bolt, keeping us on high alert—if our child locked it from the inside, the only way to open the door would be to break it down. All night, the loud noise of the boiler starting up and shutting down, combined with creaking floorboards, kept waking me up. After 3:30 AM, I couldn't sleep at all. I wouldn't stay here again for free. With stained orange wallpaper and a cheap MDF headboard glued to the wall, it felt like a last-resort roadside motel. It’s laughable they claim 4 stars; it isn't worth more than £45-£50 a night. A 4-star hotel should provide water in the room. Instead, reception told us to go n ask at the bar, which was embarrassing. We spent hundreds at that bar only to realise we were being cheated with the wrong mixers. To top it off, the intercom was faulty and never repaired

I would say that this is a three star hotel not four.

Nice to have a gym in a town that has nothing else on offer. £130 for a single bed in a old fashioned and tired room is extortionate

Lovely hotel. Food was great, breakfast was best we have had for a buffet for a long time. Staff at dinner service were miserable and the prices of drinks I felt were high at £7 a pint. Room was really nice with seperate kids room and colouring packs. Pool was lovely

Lovely place to stay but I'd say the roomed are not 4* Great facilities and happy, kind and courteous staff Breakfast was very good Room decor was very tired and not what I'd expect for a 4 star hotel, the wallpaper has been patched over a damp area with a differing paper and the damp patches were showing back through

spacious rooms, and warm, clean pool and spa. Breakfast was excellent. Minor downs; dated hotel, hard pillows bar cashed up before 10pm so wasn't able to use.

The hotel has had a revamp and there were many activities to show the appreciation with which the guests are held. There was a free ironing service, free coffee, free water in bottles and one guest was even given a bottle of champaign at dinner. Great hotel even before this

The positives were the brand new well equipped gym and the pool and sauna area - these are great. Staff were really friendly. The room and the shared areas are fine but are a little 'tired' in decor and facilities. I was told they have plans to refurb and haven't done so for 20 years and that would make the 'ok' into 'great' if they get it right. The breakfast was fairly typical mid 1990s cooked breakfast style - would have been great to see granola, yoghurt, more healthy options available. The brasserie was 'ok' - but some dishes more miss than hit - basic but not really quite at the level of the prices. Electric chargers in the car park a major plus though in this part of mid Wales.

Dirty carpet in bedroom. Very strange wallpaper. Family room sited at front of building beside the main road. Room therefore too bright from street lights and too noisy from passing cars and people. Family room only accessible by two sets of steps/stairs. Furnishings in dining room dirty and worn out.

We were visiting family in Llandrindod Wells and this seemed one of the few hotels open there now. It's a massive place in need of tlc. Not sure if the owners will ever be able to get it back to its former Victorian splendour. The pool and spa area are a good extra. Not really sure it's a 4* hotel any more. Food in a la carte is fine. Breakfast a buffet and plenty of choice. Let's hope if it's done up at some point they retain the fab original features - stair banisters and wonderful windows in the breakfast/dining room.

First the good. The staff were very friendly professional and helpful. They really looked after us well. The food was also excellent. However the whole hotel was grubby and tired. The sofas in the lounge area were dusty and i could not sit on them as i have a feather and dust allergy and if i say for more than a couple of minutes it woulds start up. The shower in the room was awful. You would be better standing under watering can no pressure at all and volume of water pathetic. Again the room was dusty and grubby with old furniture but the feather items had been removed so it was fine for me. All in all i would have to say it wasn't worth the cost and we wouldn't return sadly. This is a shame as the staff and the food were excellent. Whoever owns the hotel could do with updating and cleaning the place.

This is a very tired hotel. We asked to move rooms which they upgraded us but the room they moved us too did not have toilet facilities working and they almost were blaming us for complaining We moved to another room and the door key did not work and again assumed that it was us, the receptionist came with us and we were right it didn’t work. They thought it might have been a battery. They weren’t sure again in the morning. The door key didn’t work. We had to go back to reception to get it sorted. The restaurant staff at the hotel are very pleasant. Our room was a tower suite. The bathroom is nice that they just comfortable. I’m not going to say anything else about it. For being a sweet in their top room, the carpet is very stained wallpaper stained not a pleasant stay here at all. The bathroom was nice. I could take 100 pictures of this room, but I’m just taking a few to show you.
