Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was well cooked and reasonable in price. Parking was safe and easy and th egrounds, which lead to a park and the beach are wonderful. Our dog was welcome with us and well looked after in the hotel - much more so than some 'dog friendly' hotels.

We were not informed of the internet password. We did not have any hotel information available as it transpires the info booklets were behind ghe reception desk. We also tried to walk into the town but could not because the gate is coded. We did not know this prior to walking as we had no info. The radiator in the bathroom was scolding hot. We did advise reception and supposedly it was repaired. Sadly it was not .. we slept with three windows open and two fans running all night! Interestingly there was no bedside light these are being “phased out”. Also our room was not serviced because we had not hung the service room sign on the outside handle. What sign ? The individual staff were very pleasant but somehow the hotel assume the guests are mind readers. I’ve never stayed anywhere quite like it.

Breakfast was fine, staff good, but the floors and rooms were so noisy there was no sound insulation and we could hear snoring from another room. There floors creaked with a deep grinding sound. Someone put their tv on at 03.30 and once you’re awake it takes forever to go off again. WiFi was spotty and I had to hot spot my phone to get emails. But for all that we were there for 2 nights so I am glad to be home and look forward to my bed.

The Hotel is lovely and old, very warm and very clean. The pool was amazing, soo clean and never busy. The best thing about this Hotel though, is the staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. Loved Jo in the restaurant and can’t wait to come back.

Very clean room, excellent breakfast. Lovely, lovely staff, very friendly and helpful. Nice to have our dog at breakfast. Reasonable checking in and checking out times and breakfast allocation time. Only thing that would have made it better would have been the temperature of the room! It was soooo hot. There was a fan in the wardrobe but it was still far too hot. Very unsettled first night as hardly slept at all. Worst night I’ve had in years which was a shame as we were away for the weekend. The first night was unsettled but the second night was hardly any sleep at all for both of us and my husband can sleep anywhere! Not sure what could have been done as the heating wasn’t on in the bathroom when we touched it? Beautiful hotel grounds to walk around and walk your dog. Excellent tea tray and welcome book. If I had to be constructive I’d say the room needed a table side lamp and the welcome folder requires a note saying to get a code from the desk to be able to get out of the grounds. I didn’t know the first time and the second time I forgot to ask again and on my way back in I asked at the reception desk and she explained it has to be changed regularly. I think if it was explained in the welcome folder I would have asked at the desk before walking to the gardens. Very well kept beautiful gardens for sure. I expected the room to be tired after reading reviews and I was pleasantly surprised. Such a shame our room was like a sauna otherwise it would have been a perfect stay.

We've just come back from an absolutely lovely short stay at the Cliffden, primarily to visit local friends but also for a bit of relaxing family time. The hotel itself and grounds are gorgeous with helpful, generous staff. Our room was basic but a good size and had everything we needed, we missed out on a Seaview and would definitely request that next time. The pool and easy access to town through the gardens really made the stay but we also really enjoyed the restaurant with exceptional staff who couldn't do enough for us, but all staff we met were kind and helpful.

Lovely location, short walk to town and the seafront. Room was spacious and clean, but a little dated. Comfy bed. Pool was great, very clean and we had it to ourselves in the morning! Would definitely stay again as overall was a really nice stay.
