My stay in Goa itself was absolutely amazing, I would encourage anyone to go to Goa! My stay at Devarya however was comfortable, yet the people at the place was very sneaky. My qoute changed about 3 times, every time it increased for some reason. I booked a taxi from the airport, and there was no taxi when we reached Goa. We had to ask the taxi drivers at the airport. Booking a taxi going back to the airport, they informed the local taxi drivers in the area, so that they can increase the price by more than doubled. This was also the case for most things we needed their assistance with. We were also told 2 days after check-in that the whole premise is non-smoking, after I paid the booking without this information. I would not have booked at a resort that is completely non-smoking I believe Devarya can offer a good stay for someone who comes from India and that knows the prices one should pay, but as a foreigner I regret booking my stay with them. Joan.

Very expensive for what it is. The room was nothing like it looked in the pictures. The bed was broken, the fan made a racket, there was nowhere to hang your clothes - 3 coathangers were provided, 1 broken and I wasn't sure where they expected us to hang them. There was a massive dead cockroach by the bed when we woke on our first morning. We politely voiced our disappointment and when we came back at the end of the day, nothing had been done, the cockroach still lay lifeless by the bed. Eventually they showed us an alternative room, a twin with a wardrobe - hardly the romantic getaway we'd anticipated. We asked them to instead, repair the bed, fix the fan and remove the cockroach from the original room - the bed and cockroach were addressed. At the end of the last day, they finally realised it was my birthday (despite me filling in numerous forms on arrival with my date of birth, 2 members of staff sweetly shook me by the hand. Despite that, our room had not been made up. We were informed it was because we had the only key... The room including taxes was over £100/night, I know what to expect in other parts of Goa, it was not value for money or realy a very pleasant experience. We both had massages which were twice the price of other massages we've had in Goa and frankly the worst massage I've ever had, I wondered if they'd just plucked 2 women off the street. All in all, thoroughly disappointing.

This place has the potential to be absolutely fantastic (and perhaps is a lot of the time) but during my stay it spectacularly under-delivered. I was there in mid-October and booked over a month in advance. Swimming pools - these were both green and unusable for my entire stay. No apology was given. The "reason" given on check-out was that it was difficult to "get the parts" required... Room - I stayed in the Royal Villa. Air con was great. Shower was ok. Bed was comfortable. Room was not cleaned at all during my 4 night stay. Beach restaurant - this has a great location and feel. Unfortunately, while I was there this was a complete building site. For 2 of my 4 days it was completely closed - again no apology or communication of the closure. Instead, I has to eat breakfast in a grim concrete building at the back of the resort with no view. Wifi - this is only available within 10 feet of the reception - not available in the rooms Yoga classes - the evening classes advertised on the website were all cancelled with no explanation. On 2 out of the 4 days, the morning yoga teacher did not turn up. The evening yoga class was very good. Beach - the beach is nice. Much quieter than the commercialized Baga&Calangute beaches just down the coast. However, we had to get our own sun beds out each morning that had been packed away for some reason. Although the beach restaurant is adjacent, it didn't offer any drinks/food service to guests after breakfast.
