No hot water and when we arrived (it had clearly been an issue as we heard other guests talk about it) no one mentioned it. Someone from our party went to ask reception and they were very dismissive. The next day still no hot water, I understand they couldn’t have fixed it there and then but they could if been proactive is telling us and offering to try and fix it.

Clean but like some old buildings, plumbing is a challenge. A shower where it was impossible not to spill water on the floor! But the room was clean and comfortable.

Room was fine. Clean and a good amount of space. The only downsides were the room was very hot even with the window open all night. Considering it’s April I presume the summer will be stifling. The shower also was poor, the pressure was low and operated from the bath taps meaning the temperature was extremely difficult to regulate.

I would not stay again, our double bedroom had very tired decor, peeling paint, lots of dust and cobwebs, and overlooked a flat roof/ fire escape. Seems like the room had been slapped with lots of green paint in attempts to modernise it. Not sure how the accommodation can be described as luxury. If we had been staying for more then one night I would have left early. The parking is very limited, but that is stated when booking. Staff at reception were friendly when booking in.

Breakfast was so expensive for the quality. The rooms are a bit tired and the milk sachets were out of date.

Have wanted to stay at this hotel for a while and I’m sad to say I was very disappointed. Maybe I just had high expectations but for what we paid for the stay I found the room tired and it was extremely cold. There was a heater provided but it kept cutting out. For such a large hotel there is extremely limited parking in hotel car park. Staff while polite where not knowledgeable about hotel procedures and receptionist seemed preoccupied.

We stayed in room 233 classic double, room was plenty big enough, no view from the window but for 1. Night didn’t matter, beautiful ornate staircase - definitely recommend

Convenient location near the centre. Parking at the rear of the Hotel. The staff were excellent. My wife and I really enjoyed our one-night stay.

Highlights are the centre-of-town location, the restaurant/breakfast room and lovely character of the hotel. Staff were friendly and room was warm and comfortable. Breakfast was good, ours being cooked-to-order but the buffet ‘full-English’ was less appealing (bacon not replenished and fried eggs that looked like they had been standing for some time - the latter should be cooked fresh to order). Decor in places (corridors especially) due for a refresh and the outlook of our first-floor room was into a ‘well’ facing other rooms’ windows. Overall a pleasant one-night stay and walkable to the City hospital.
