I had a wonderful 1-night stay at the Maternushaus. The location was perfect, within walking distance from the Cologne main train station (Köln Hauptbahnhof). The facility was very clean, and, while not fancy by any means, it had all that I needed: a very clean single room with private bathroom and a comfortable bed, TV, several electric outlets, good WiFi, etc. The included breakfast was excellent, and there's also a free drinking water station. The staff was very kind and helpful. Above all, I was very thankful for an onsite chapel with 24x7 perpetual Adoration.

Schon vom Namen her hätte man vielleicht ahnen können, daß das Maternushaus in Wirklichkeit kein Hotel ist. Die Unterkunft ist eher für Tagungsbesucher geeignet. Im Zimmer waren weder Kühlschrank noch Teezubereitungssnlagr vorhanden, obwohl Bar und Restaurant außer der Frühstückzeit zu hatte. Auf der Plusseite erreicht man den Hauptbahnhof und den Dom in wenigen Minuten zu Fuß. Schließlich aber ist das keine „Oase der Stille im herzen der Stadt“. Zumindest von meinem Zimmer im vierten Stock war ständig Verkehrslärm von der Hauptstraße nebenan. Auf der anderen Seite des Gebaudes hätte man besseres Gluck?

Very easy to get to, great parking, walkable throughout town, nice breakfast, great staff. Rooms dated but large, clean and adequate.

Ideal for a one night stay before catching the train the next day. Breakfast was good and staff were adequate, neither friendly or unfriendly.

The room was good. The buffet breakfast had a good variety of choices. The rooms are cleaned on demand. The location is convenient - close to the Cologne Main Station and the cathedral.

Nice hotel and decent price. Room was simple and plain but good condition and clean. Stayed in worse (claimed) 4* in Germany. Didn't realise you had to hang a thing on door so room wasnt cleaned daily. No biggie but not mentioned when checking in. No fridge or mini bar. Booked 4 nights but managed a late flight after the third night so said to the receptionist i was checking out early. Mass confusion as he tried to find how to do this in his book without success.. he then told me "I'm not sure you can". Given i had paid the 4 nights and wasnt expecting a refund i laughed and said "i dont think you can stop me!" He then said he was new and only "been here year.." I bid him farewell and left.. 😂

The most disgusting hotel I've ever stayed. I'm not sure how they landed on a 4* rating, but I'd put this hotel at hostel level. The website photos catfished me into booking this dire accommodation. The lights in the room won't go out unless the key card is taken out of the slot, but then my phone won't charge...! When I called reception he answered my call with "yeah?". Vile, tired, horrible hotel. Avoid!

Very comfortable place and very nice especially for the price.

Excellent location for downtown Köln, staff was very helpful and courteous. Breakfast buffet was a delight as well as the choices and staff.

Very convenient location, a ten minute walk from the Cathedral and main station. We arrived at 9.30 am, after leaving a river cruise, expecting to leave our bags in the luggage room, but our room was already available.
