We were traveling with a pet. When we went to our room, it smelled of dog urine so we returned to the front desk and asked for a new room. The clerk said we would have to pay a $40 fee to change rooms
because we entered the room and it would have to be recleaned. I asked to speak to the manager because why do I have to pay for the room to be recleaned when it obviously was not thoroughly cleaned the first time? All we did was walk in the room & right back out. I agree the room needs to be recleaned but it was not properly cleaned the first time but I should not be responsible for paying for it. The clerk said he called the manager and said it’s the their policy to charge the fee and said there was nothing we could do about it. Holiday Inn Express has lost us as customers. Extremely disappointing and unfair to charge us a fee for their lack of service.
