We stayed two nights at Hotel Thissio: one in the Zeus suite, on our first night in Greece (late April), and another in the Ares suite, on our last night (mid-May). Both rooms were very nice and had balconies with fantastic views of the Acropolis. But the Zeus suite is their best room, on a corner and very spacious. You wake up, open your eyes, still in bed, and there it is, the Acropolis! At night, you see it illuminated. In the morning, you see it with the sun rising. From the balcony, you can also see the Ancient Agora, Lycabettus Hill, Philopappou Hill, people walking up and down Apostolou Pavlou avenue. To arrive in Athens for the first time and have this view was one of the many highlights of our trip and something I will never forget. The staff was super friendly. When we arrived, we were invited to sit at the entrance bar and offered welcome drinks while someone from reception came to check us in. We also loved the neighborhood. Thiseio is very beautiful, very green, close to a lot of bars and restaurants, and an easy walk to the Acropolis and other attractions. Breakfast is served downstairs, and you can choose what you want from a menu. The food was delicious and the service was attentive, but a bit slow, so give yourself extra time if you are leaving for the airport.

The location is outstanding, we had been staying in the Apollo room with a nice balcony and a direct view on the acropolis. the room is quite small but very clean, nice rain shower, power outlet on each side of the bed. Bed had been very comfortable, plenty pillows and comfortable mattress. Kettle and tea bags in the room, free and fast wifi. Breakfast had been delicious. Ordered the greek scrambled egg with feta and tomato served with two fresh bread rolls and as dessert the greek yogurt with fresh cut fruits. The staff is super friendly, attentive and helpful. All in all a very pleasant experience i can only recommend.

We spent four wonderful days here during the celebration of Greek Easter, and the experience was truly memorable. From the moment you arrive, the staff make you feel incredibly welcome and go out of their way to ensure your stay is special. I highly recommend including breakfast with your booking—even though we’re not usually breakfast people, we found ourselves looking forward to it every morning. The highlight, without a doubt, is the balcony view. It’s an absolute must. The sight of the Acropolis of Athens is unbeatable—arguably one of the best views you’ll find anywhere in downtown Athens. We also had clear views of the Ancient Agora of Athens, which made the experience even more special. Imagine lying in bed and looking straight out at the most iconic side of the Acropolis and the Parthenon—it’s breathtaking. Even weeks later, that view is still vivid in my mind. The only thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is located right in the heart of downtown, along a busy pedestrian street. It can get a bit noisy in the early evening, so light sleepers may want to bring earplugs. But that’s part of the trade-off for being so centrally located. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. The views and proximity to everything make it the place to stay.

Rooms are clean and neat. I personally found the bright emergency exit sign a bit annoying at night. Also bathroom door was glass and no small lights so at night it beams into the whole room right towards the bed which isnt nice for the person youre staying with (end up waking eachother up) Mixed experience with staff, some nice others not so much. Be warned they charge insane prices in the bar/restaurant downstairs. Location is the biggest selling point as in walkable distance from Acropolis. I found the check in process a bit odd as well.
