We stayed two nights at Hotel Thissio: one in the Zeus suite, on our first night in Greece (late April), and another in the Ares suite, on our last night (mid-May).
Both rooms were very nice and had balconies with fantastic views of the Acropolis. But the Zeus suite is their best room, on a corner and very spacious. You wake up, open your eyes, still in bed, and there it is, the Acropolis! At night, you see it illuminated. In the morning, you see it with the sun rising. From the balcony, you can also see the Ancient Agora, Lycabettus Hill, Philopappou Hill, people walking up and down Apostolou Pavlou avenue.
To arrive in Athens for the first time and have this view was one of the many highlights of our trip and something I will never forget.
The staff was super friendly. When we arrived, we were invited to sit at the entrance bar and offered welcome drinks while someone from reception came to check us in.
We also loved the neighborhood. Thiseio is very beautiful, very green, close to a lot of bars and restaurants, and an easy walk to the Acropolis and other attractions.
Breakfast is served downstairs, and you can choose what you want from a menu. The food was delicious and the service was attentive, but a bit slow, so give yourself extra time if you are leaving for the airport.
