I stayed here overnight for an early business meeting - I wish I was here for leisure! What an absolute little gem of a pub - traditional decor, traditional food and the most traditional British service from a lovely friendly team. Jayne and her team members really make this place worth visiting - their host skills and friendly nature were worth every penny.
I stayed in Room 1, a quirky little room at the top of the crooked pub. The ensuite bathroom was spotlessly clean and the little touches (light up mirror, bin, lovely bodywash etc) made it perfect. Some hotels I have stayed in don't even have a full length mirror! The lovely comfy bed with handy tea facilities, bottled water and biscuits made a perfect rest stop after my long drive. I didn't bother with the TV but it was adequate. I was greeted by the pub dogs on the stairs the next morning, so I stayed for a scritchy scratch and cuddles!
The breakfast was amazing - granola, fresh fruit and tea / coffee, with a choice of hot breakfast cooked to order. I chose the "Savoy", smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, which was absolutely delicious. All in all, I absolutely loved my stay here and wish it was closer for a weekend away with husband!
The only slight downside (and not the fault of the hotel) was the lack of convenient parking. There is a local car park with complicated rules (different tiers of parking, free after 10pm but you have to pay from 6am, so bang goes that lovely lie-in!)
