I stayed here for only one night before moving to Flatdogs and it really is a gorgeous camp. The room is nicely decorated with local art pieces and the dining area has a beautiful seating area with fire pits and tables overlooking the river and sunrise or sunset. The pool area has an amazing view of the river as well. The rooms and facilities are clean and well kept and the staff are constantly fishing leaves out of the pool because the area is quite dusty and windy in the dry season. Because Zambia has constant electricity shortages and load shedding, the hot water is only available at certain hours when there are power. This made for an awkward cold shower during the day after a in the pool but it's not a terrible deal breaker given the 100F temperature. Not running diesel generators and relying on solar is probably an environmental choice for them. The service could be improved a bit in terms of dining and poolside service. I had to proactively ask for a drink menu during dinner and breakfast and it seems not all items are available. I would have loved to be served some cold beer near the pool as well. Most clients are camping during my stay and quite happy to bring their own beer and snacks and not to be bothered to spend more money. If you're deciding between Flatdogs and Track and Trail, I'd say that this camp is better for chilling and relaxation while Flatdogs seems geared towards the safari crowd with twice daily scheduled game drives and quick attentive service.

We had a memorable stay Track and Trail. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Peter, the owner was making sure we had all we needed. Sleeping in the tent was very comfy. Elephants and hypos roaming on the property will make long lasting memories. Ian and Caroline from Canada

Superb lodge. Very good value relative to other options in the Valley. All staff were outstanding. To highlight Vic our driver, Kenon who was managing the lodge as the Directors were away, Albert who is training to be a guide, the chefs who did a great job, the security watchmen, maids, etc. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing place. We loved it. We had a tent, which was perfect. There is a lot of wildlife directly on the property. We saw countless baboons and impalas. We were privileged to see the local hippopotamus come and mow the lawn in the late afternoon and once again at night a few feet from our tent. When we left, there were 10 giraffes roaming on the 500 meter long road to the hotel. Room was good. Lots of hot water and a fan to keep cool. Restaurant had great food and all the hotel staff was awesome. Our favorite place in Africa so far!

Can't say enough good things and Track & Trail. From being picked up a the airport by staff member Albert whom was very kind and welcoming. Upon arriving we were shown to our rooms which were beyond expectations. Very clean and beautiful. After settling down and went to have dinner we were met our hostess Chi Chi the sweetest lady ever. Had a great meal and a very sound sleep. Could not recommend this place enough to anybody looking for a great experience in Zambia.

The staff was exceptional from meeting us at the airport, check-in, meals to our game drives. The rooms were very clean and maintained during our stay. The food was very good however, we would have liked to see some more local options on the menu.

It would be hard to find a better accommodation and safari option than Track & Trail. Dedicated operator and staff, wonderful riverside location, comfortable and attractive facilities, and high quality and tasty food. Even the tap water is drinkable. The drives always located animals, and the guides are knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are good. Highly recommended.

Regrettably, our recent stay at the place was unsatisfactory. The premises were unclean and unorganized. The reception staff lacked hospitality, leaving us unwelcomed and frustrated. Your establishment failed to provide the expected level of service and ambiance.

We were inches from bush buck, monkeys and baboons. Hippos emerged from the river nearby. The stillness of the African bush interrupted by bird and animal calls. Excellent attentive service and delicious meals prepared with great care and skill. Our guide was very knowledgeable about birds, beasts and trees!!

Camp was good, however due to remote location and no vehicle, you had to eat at the camp, which if on a budget you need to factor this in. $35 US and drinks.

I can’t understand why this lodge was not fully booked, as I truly loved the design and the value for money. Even factoring in game drives and national park fees, I paid about half what some of the more upscale lodges would have cost. The pool is amazing with a lovely river view; I enjoyed the outdoor gym and the manager was super friendly and ensured that I could go on game drives with the neighboring lodge when the minimum wasn’t met to send the Track and Trail vehicle. The latter is the most comfortable I have come across in South Luangwa, by the way. That said, if you are on a budget, factor in that the meals are somewhat expensive for the portion sizes and you will need to pay 25 USD in park fees per day on top of the game drives. Plus, for a solo traveler, the transfers from the airport are very expensive. On the other hand, water is free, which is great. I woke up to elephants and hippos walking through the camp…unfortunately, I missed the leopard. The game drives take place in the main area which was a little bit more crowded than I would have thought expected, but Vic, the camp’s excellent guide, always did his best to avoid the crowds. Plus, I saw 5 leopards in 2 days - way more than around the more exclusive camps I visited afterwards. I really hope the camp will be fully booked in the future as it’s a truly lovely place.
